To the staff and the members of SG

Post by Cypher »

As I mentioned before I've been spending an increasing amount of time on something awful. I'm sure that this would have a certain impact on the way I post to some degree. I enjoy it because of the diversity it has to offer as well as the twisted sense of humor I've always had. But enough about that.
I just want it known that I'm still committed to what this site is about. I try to maintain a certain level of civility on line and avoid unneeded confrontation, much like I actually am. Now sometimes my sense of humor is offensive to other people. Honestly I'm used to that, so I have no problem "toning it down" as some of you have noticed. If a forum member is offended by a post I make, be it a picture or verbal, I censor it myself. I do this because that's just how I am and because I should have to clean up my own mess. That's just how I was raised.

I'm not judging anyone or playing the petty, I'm better than you, or whatever you could sum it up as. I'm just being real. I don't need to be moderated. That is my responsibility. It's not fair to put that burden on someone else. Site's DO need mods and admins to maintain the site and try to achieve the objective of the site. Without order there is chaos and chaos destroys everything around it. Trust me I know first hand. I lived the anarchy lifestyle for many years.

The Mods on most site are NOT paid. They take the time to try and help maintain something they believe in so to say. This in turn means good mods and or staff is hard to find. Granted there are other Mods who are just power hungry. Though they may bear the title of a mod they are almost always found out for what they are and stripped of their positions. On this site we are actually very lucky for the hierarchy we have here. They have all proven beyond the reason of a doubt to be an asset to the community. We're all very lucky in those regards. Still, that can change at any moment.

Once any of them feels that their time is being wasted or the task is futile, they could choose to move on. In a case like that everyone looses.
I've seen some sites where power hungry mods have actually driven out admins. Or the site itself hits a state of utter depravity. After which total chaos breaks out and th community turns against itself and generally crumbles. When this happens, and it does, it's a VERY sad site.

There is also no need to respond to this or to turn it into a debate of any kind. Let's just take a step back and look at what we have at SG and where we're all going with it as a whole. I don't know Philip personally, but chances are this site started as an idea or concept, as do most things. It spread and found it's way into the hearts of others who shared it. From there it grew and became what we see now. To taint something of such a nature is wrong. Regardless of what ever reason may seem to make it right. We're talking little things too, which multiply rapidly and become big things.

I as a person am hurt to see the staff here come to the point they have stated above on this very board. Something like that isn't an easy statement for any of them to make. I'm almost certain it was a painful conclusion to come to. The fact that it was addressed speaks volumes of their character. We're better than this people. I have put allot of time into this site as have so many of you, and all of us are better than this.

Now I'm not kissing a$$ or trying to score brownie points for what ever reason. I'm just putting the cards on the table plain and simple. Initially I started this as an email/PM but I thought it would be better to put it out in the community since it pertains to all of us including myself.

-Ron

PS
This is just my opinion and I just had to put it out there, because that's how I am. For those of you who read through this I do appreciate your time.

What is nice about SG is the members are pretty much 'old school' in terms of the internet, as are the mods. They understand the evolution of BB systems, and have a great in and out knowledge of how they can work properly.
Oh good not the ALL YOUR BASES BELONG TO US!! era.

That must have been a mad house. So were you around for the fy,z and Lowtax's symbatical ordeal?? :rotfl: the red hammer was fordged, and crushed many heads.

For that alone you get 555 and golden manbabies my friend. :2cool:

I'm glad some of you enjoyed my little rant. I was just stating how a few of us feel I'm sure. Like I said it was initially started out as an email, but I figure it was better off on the boards.
Well that and I accidently corrupted the DB performing searches with too many wild cards or something. I received an irate call from who I think was Philip, letting me know he was en route to NJ to cut off my mouse fingers as example to the rest of you. I figured I better type up something nice quick like.
Wait a minute... I think that's him smashing the windows out of my car in the parking lot. He's wearing mouse ears and all screaming in Russian...I think this is the end guys...Ok, that's not him it's just my landlord.
Nah I'm kidding about all that as if you didn't know. I just woke up and it sounded funny. Hey, what if he reads this and actually decides that would be a great idea? Now that I've cried wolf no one would believe me. :(

I agree with what John said about us being old school BB types that understand the way a BB is supposed to work. I myself began my online BB/net life in 1994. Thats pretty old school. John=hit nail right on the head. :) Nice nice rant there Cypher. :thumb:

I know SG is speedguide, and SB would probably be speedball, but what is SA?

You mean Sarah's mule, don't ya? :rotfl:

Whether I felt welcome there or not would be up to them. I don't fear much when it comes to saying what I think on the cybernet or in real life. Course, then again, if the little f*ckers at SA don't go to church, I'm probably wayyy too f*cking good for them. :p

I got curious cause I've heard SA mentioned here on several posts.
