Video Card guru's needed

Post by Jon »

What would be a better card?

A 9800 pro 128mb

or

A GeForce FX 5200 256MB

I curently own both, just need to decide which one to use for gaming.

The GeForce FX series cards never impressed me from Nvidia. On top of that, lately I think their driver support is kinda poor. I would do the 9800, I think it's the faster card even with double the memory on the Nvidia card.

The 9800 is a top end card, the 5200 is a budget card, no comparison teh 9800 wins easily.

9800Pro by FAR.

There is really only one card in the FX line that is worth it's weight...meaning bang for buck and that would be the 5700 Ultra.

BUT! The 5200 can play games and prolly very well but not at the level of the 9800Pro.

The 5200 would be a great card for a second rig which I assume is why you are asking in the first place. I could be wrong.
