Post by ilmars »

Hi Folks

I am just about to get a DVD burner (LiteOn 8X/8X) & am wondering which format is the better one to use. Will everyone be read on any DVD rom machine, be it PC based or a home entertainment machine. What should I be aware of for maximum compatiblity. Thanks Ilmars

That DVD Rom should do just about anything you ask of it.

Give it a bit of time. The experts will weigh in...Trust me. :D

There are benifits to both formats, as well as drawbacks. If your only using the rewritable for harddrive backup, I'd not be to concerned other than write speed if your in a hurry.
The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, and prejudices to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all of its own for the children and the children yet unborn and the pity of it is that these things cannot be confined to the Twilight Zone.

Lite-On makes a dual-format burner, which I have. It does both DVD-R and DVD+R. It's not too much more than one of their normal DVD burners.

It does not make to much of a difference between +/- dvd-r because the finished product is the same and can be read with any DVD-ROM.... if your going to buy a burner i suggest a dual format DVD+/-RW... even better get one of those dual layer burners with storage on a disk of 8.5 gigs :D

Most of the time i see great deals on the -R media though verses the +R but that flipflops also....and most of the time if you are using RW media -RW seem to have a faster re-write than the +RW...

But the final desision is really up to you!!!! :thumb:

but i tested 100 DVD+R and i couldnt watch 12 of them
when i tested 100 DVD-R i couldnt watch only 2
