Anybody Know Chinese?

Post by Jamie_R »

I wanna make sure of something ...

I while back someone posted a link to get a name in Chinese lettering ... well, I put in my son's name - Kyle, and what I got is my avatar.
I was thinking about getting it tattooed, but I wanna make sure it really says "Kyle" - I don't want to be going shirtless and have some Chinese person come up to me and start laughing their A$$ off because it really says "Free Blowj0b" or something ...

Any help is greatly appreciated :thumb:

Edit: And I tried Googling for a Chinese dictionary, but no luck finding this particular name :(

It's not a real name but more of using similar sounding chinese word to match the english pronouciation.

English names and chinese names don't have to match.

It does say Kyle or "Kair". My gf is mandarin. Obviously it is not a word for word translation but the just is Kyle and only Kyle. :D

Shes not sure how to describe the "r" sound.

You should get one that says " Qing (3rd tone) Qing(1st tone) Wo (1st tone) De (no tone) Pi (4th tone) Qu (3rd tone). :D

I can't write the characters and I don't know all the characters for that sentence.

Probably, my I thought it was Qing, but it could be qin. as for gu qu..same thing g's and q's sound the same to me. I've never actually seen the pin ying for it...only pronounced it.

My mom is Chinese. She knows Mandarin, Cantonese, and Vietnamese I think. Do you still need someone to translate it?

Its not actually a proper sentance...my gf told me so cause I was saying it too much. Perhaps she just said it to shut me up :D .

I wouldn't get your mom to read it...

Might I add this is a good idea. In case a person asks about your chinese name and you forgot how to write it, point at your tattoo.
