Post by JawZ »

Cause it sucks!

This is the first MS product that I've owned that is a POS. $100 for a keyboard and mouse and it's awful. The ergonomic design is quite nice....but all the features are just....awful.

The scroll wheel has no "click" in it. It's smooth now. So when you scroll...you can't get a feel for how many lines you are scrolling by. The middle click button is also gone....nowhere to be found. Physically it's there...but it's configuration is in the settings and middle click...the default for years now, is gone. It forces you to pick a function like open a program or some other useless feature.

The configuration itself is nightmarish.....it's almost impossible due to all the stupid features to configure the damn mouse. I can't even explain it....either the mosue is too sensitive, or not sensitive enough. And to top it all off.....it doesn't mesh well with in-game settings.

I tried for 2 hours to configure the mouse in BF1942 and I couldn't get it to work. The middle click button when used would crash the game due to it's software bindings, the response was ultra slow or too fast and accuracy would go down the drain....

I'm tired of typing...this product sucks plain and simple.

Evan, get yourself the Logitech MX500 or if you care about cordless, the MX700. Recommended by thousands of clan gamers, me being one of them. It's sooo sweet... :)

Eh top left click? I'm not quite sure I'm following you... :D

It has the three normal buttons (well, mousewheel being middle), two thumb buttons, one button above the mousewheel and two below. Don't ask me what the standard button functions are, 'cause I bound them to ordinary keys for gaming... :rotfl: Not BF1942 though, rather Enemy Territory.

Edit: OMG ROFL! Now I know what you ment, the ordinary 2 standard buttons. Well, they are not there visually, but since the plastic cover is split in the middle, the two silver tongues depress entirely and act as button. Impossible to miss, and works perfectly. Neat design is just a bonus. :)

The Cordless MX Duo from logitech is by far my personal favourite. I have used many from microsoft to logitech, low to high end and the MX Duo kicks ass!

I'm leaving in a bit for an exchange...I will be getting the new Logitech to replace the one I already have, this way, I'm guaranteed to be compatible with their software.

They all use the iTouch and Mouseware programs so I'm good to go.

Define Lag.....I don't understand...??

Do you mean the mouse has a dead spot in it...??

I can get my mouse moving so fast with the program that comes with it..You can't see it moving..LOL!

I have to back it off 10/15 MPH.. ;) Spice

A poor RF signal which does not sync movement with action instantly. Very crucial and noticeable in gaming. ;)

Yeah, when I was addicted to Unreal my wireless rodent had to go into storage. A tiny bit of lag kept gettin me killed...well that and I sucked :D

I have the MX500 (cable) for lag concerns as well, all RF mice I had were laggy, sluggish, if you will. I do know a bunch of gamers who love their MX700, but I wouldn't trust that RF :D .

Nah, I'm not an RF fan myself wwhen it comes to input devices. Hopefully Blue tooth matures. It's on the right track though. I'll just stick with my Intelimouse explorer for now I guess. ;)

Yes, it is worth every penny. Nothing better that I know of at this time.

Everyone at the [H] loves it.

No joke man, this mouse is the best mouse i've ever used.

Note that I got the MX700 Duo, so it came with the MX700 Mouse, Wireless Keyboard, and the thingy to set the mouse in at night to charge the batteris, which also acts as the reciever and lights for the keyboard like caps lock, num lock etc...

I think I paid $70 at newegg for the whole combo.

Cool....how long does a typical charge last for? And will it accept regular batteries? I'm a pretty heavy user and wonder when I'll find time to charge it lol. Maybe I'll have to buy two lol.

I've had it working for a couple days without a charge. An average user could probably go a few days without a charge. A heavy user a couple days or less.

But everyone has to sleep, I know you do UOD, all you gotta do is slap the mouse on the charger device when you go to bed. It sits right on your desk, so its so easy, mine is like 6" from my mouse pad, so I just slap the mouse in the cradle and go to bed. Wake up in the morning and its charged.

Charge time isn't that long either, an hour or two if you run it completely out.

In the 6 months i've had mine i've only run it completely out ONCE, so its rare as long as you put it on the charger at least ever other night.

It comes with the rechargable batteries.

Dude, i'm a heavy user, my computer is my job, so believe me I use this mouse quite a bit during a day ;)

And still i've only had it run out on me once, but that was cause I hadn't charged it for 3 days. I use to forget to put on the charger, so it would go a couple days without a charge.

It lets you know when it needs one though, a little green light on top starts flashing.

Just set it in the craddle whenver you aren't using it. You don't have to wait for it to run all the way down to recharge it

I've had the keyboard on the same two AA batteries since I bought this whole combo almost 6 months ago! See, the keyboard doesn't have any active lights on it, the craddle has the lights, so there isn't much drain on the batteries on the keyboard. It just takes regular AA's. I bought an 8 pack of em when i got the combo incase they ran out fast. But man, almost six months and i'm still on the original two AA batteries on this keyboard. That's awesome.

Oh, one thing about this mouse, when you aren't using it, and it just sits there, it does go into a low power mode, so when you go to move your mouse it is like paused for a second while it wakes up and jumps to attention. But it only takes like 1 second. It hasn't been a bother for me.

You won't regret getting this mouse/keyboard combo.

Cool. Looking at the specs of the MX700. 800DPI. That's pretty good compared to the Razer which is still 2100 DPI. How do they achieve such speeds?

Oh well...I'm getting the stuff tomorrow when I return this POS.

I dunno how they do it, they just do :D

you won't be dissapointed

of course you will need to charge the mouse up once you install it obviously, give it a couple hours to get a full charge before you use it, then its good to go

LOL... wth happened here last night?!?

Anyhow, UOD, if you get the MX500 or MX700, you won't regret it. If you have any doubt left, try to find a store that will let you try it. You'll be convinced after the first 10 seconds of usage. Trust me & thousands of gamers on this. :)
