Got a Ticket

Post by Cameron203 »

Got a ticket today was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device. Really pisses me off because the speed limit was posted 45 then coming off the y in the road in changes to 30 real quick and then about 150ft later where I was pulled over it changes back to 45 then about 50ft after that to a 55mph zone.

Anyways anyone ever taken a ticket to court for speeding? Just curious what they ask you, and what your defense is.

BTW he said he clocked me at 47mph in a 30 but like I said he didn't hit his lights until after I had past the 45 mph zone, he clocked me coming the other direction.

It doesn't matter when he turned his lights on. Only where he "checked" your speed.

Did he check your speed on Radar, Vascar, Stopwatch, or do you know?

As GH had pointed out, there are instances where the police officer who issued the summons does not appear in traffic court. If so, the ticket is dropped.
I want to learn more and more to see as beautiful what is necessary in things; then I shall be one of those who make things beautiful. Amor fati: let that be my love henceforth! I do not want to wage war against what is ugly. I do not want to accuse; I do not even want to accuse those who accuse. Looking away shall be my only negation. And all in all and on the whole: some day I wish to be only a Yes-sayer.

That's true. It almost never hurts to go ahead and get a court date and show up.

The worst that could happen is that he shows and you have to pay it anyway.

Ive never heard of anyone beating a Vascar Ticket, but Radar is another story.

It still, most generally, comes down to a credibility issue. Are you more believable than cop.

However, I did have lunch a couple of weeks ago, with a Judge, and he said that he "dished" one to the defendant periodically, to keep things fair. This guy is pretty liberal, but I assume there are others like him.
