SETI@home - help search for ET's..

Post by stevejrc »

Sounds cool, might try it (saw it on the tv in UK):

SETI@home is a scientific experiment that uses Internet-connected computers in the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI). You can participate by running a free program that downloads and analyzes radio telescope data.

Anyone have any experience of it?

Thanks, I hadn't heard of this sort of thing before, so I didn't think to look anywhere else for it.

SETI has been around for quite a long while. Mid 90's I believe.
Respect it.

Phase 1 of SETI project will/is end(ed). Phase 2 is out soon.

I started with SETI but then asked myself...so what if we find aliens. Cure for cancer is more important to society right now. :)

True. I had testicular cancer last year and got through it thanks to modern chemo to reduce chance of recurrence (still have checkups).

So helping in anyway to provide a cure for all cancers would be great.

I agree forget the aliens, its all about the cure for cancer. The chances of finding aliens to come to earth to cure it for us just seems like a long shot! :D

Besides I am addicted now, and I will overtake Extreme in October of 2004 unless he adds some more boxes!!! :p
