Please remember those who gave their all in defence of freedom.
================================================
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Hold a grateful thought to those who are no longer here.
Alec Henry. Canadian Army, gone now, but a veteran of the Italian and North African ground campaigns.
Thomas Quilty. A distant cousin I never knew. Lancaster tail gunner, lost near Crete.
It was my privilege to parade on Rememberance Day while I was with the Ontario Regiment. I was humbled to see the honour guards at the cenotaph in Oshawa, standing stalk still, heads bowed, hands crossed over the butts of rifles facing to the ground in cold winds and rain. A small taste of the hardships many veterans had to endure and a reminder of their sacrifices...

Hi YeOldeStonecat, downhill & kilroy
Thanks for your support. As time moves on and memory fades people have a tendency to forget. This imho is something we as a people should never Forget. The young should be informed & involved in a Remembrance of the horrible cost of War.
My Sister in Hong Kong who runs a Private School their mentioned to me yesterday that she has been wearing her Poppy and is asked all kinds of questions about it. She said next year that she will start teaching the grade 4's about it. She thinks it's important they know. Apparently it is kept very low key their.
regards
