I've been reading the forums over here and seen you guys get 1mbps downloads and whats not...and so i'm mad...
Here are the specs on what i have:
Service: Verizon Online DSL 1.5mbps/128kbps
Router: D-Link DI-614+ w/2 computers hooked up to it
The Computer i'm on: HP w/1.2GHz Celeron, 128MB RAM, 30GB HD
The Problem: I get a 30KBps download speed - On A Good Day!(yeah, with a 1.5mbps line)
Sooo, whats wrong?!
If you guys could get me 100KBps i would excentric so start working that magic!

First, make absolutely sure that the IP address displayed at the top of the page is yours. If it is not, then you are measuring the parameters of the connection between SpeedGuide.net and the host that owns the displayed IP. That might be a web proxy, or a NAT device of some sort.
Web proxy servers save your ISP's bandwidth, however they often have a negative impact on your Web experience. With Proxy enabled, you might experience problems accessing some Secure pages, as well as decreased performance.
To disable the Proxy server in Internet Explorer, go into Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN settings. In there, disable proxy, uncheck "Automatic settings" and try again.
Note: Some ISPs, such as @Home automatically enable Proxy, regardless of your IE settings (if you have the @Home software installed). As a workaround, you might have to do the following:
Go into Start > Run and type: regsvr32 -u ahiehelp.dll
The above line should disable the @Home Web Proxy.
If the IP address displayed by the Analyzer is yours, then the readings are accurate. Complaining about them is equivalent to telling the manufacturer of your mirror that it is not reflecting your face accurately, because according to the description of your latest makeup kit, you should look much more attractive after applying it (my apologies to the male users, I couldn't come up with a more "manly" example :-) ).
Note: In Windows 9x, if the Analyzer reads only the RWIN value as 65535, while you have a larger number in the Registry, you might need to install the MS Vtcp.386 Fix.

well, i did what you told me and i have come to the conlcusion that the TCP/IP analyzer is giving me the info for the PPP adapter Verizon Online IP address...if thats the right one then someone tell me...i just want faster speeds...and if its not the right one then tell me how to change it to be the right one.

Hmm are you sure your not behide a proxy in your Browser type your ip that its telling you into google if a buch of stuff shows up you are probaly using a proxy just a idea it might work. your speed can also be affected by the distance you are from the main office but 40kb seems a little slow for a dsl

Set your NIC duplex mode to 10mb half duplex for Cable, for DSL it is ISP dependent unless you are using a router, if so then set it to 100mb full duplex for both Cable & DSL (the instructions are in my Help & Tips link). If you are using a router make sure you have the latest firmware.
4. Clear your temporary internet files.
5. Power cycle your modem, unplug it for atleast 15 seconds.
6. Download and update then do a scan with SpyBot 1.2 & Ad Aware 6.0 to remove any spyware then install and update SpywareBlaster to stay spyware FREE. YOU MUST USE BOTH AD AWARE & SPYBOT TO ENSURE YOU ARE SPYWARE FREE SINCE ONE FINDS WHAT THE OTHER MISSES.
7. Make sure you do the faster web page tweak in my Help & Tips link.

i have the same problem..my cS speed has died dramatically as well as my IE speed..ic all verizon..and they say everything is ok... but here...i get high ms... for IE..as well as high ping..in CS games... i ran ad aware and spy-sweeper..found sum..and deleted them..yet my itnernet connections still sucks..and verizon gets good signs down there.. any help?

Oh, and how do i know what protocals i'm using - i don't want to delete anything importaint.
