Need a better laptop NIC.

Post by erw1n »

My current setup is a 1.2gig laptop. I'm using a netgear fa411 nic, and the dang thing keeps breaking. I'd appreciate if someone could suggest a better all around NIC. Thanks in advance guys!

Netgear FA411 MODEM, or ethernet card?

How does it keep "breaking"? Give us some info and maybe we can figure something out that would prevent you from having to buy a new card.

Its a NIC, and the main problem i have is that lately it has only been working when it wants to. I'm thinking there is a short.

Well, if you've exhausted all other options and are sure that it's not something like the connecting cable, then I guess it's time to get a new card.

3Com sells great equipment; many think they are overpriced, but they are rock solid and rarely fail. Also, Linksys makes good stuff for the budget-minded type, and Netgear is also another common favorite.

Who needs dongles or x-jacks to keep breaking, get a PC card with full sized jacks and never worry again.
