Gotta learn how to do laundry

Post by fubarman »

my mom was trying to teach me but it all seems too much to remember . . . i was wondering if there would be any documentation (such as a table) on how to clean colors, whites, etc. and what type of detergent to use on each . . . and other helpful hints such as how not to shrink your clothes or how to prevent them from fading. I know it sounds really pathetic but I honestly never learned how to do laundry and I really need to know cause I'm goin to college in less than 1 month . . . any help you can give me would be great. Thanks for your time . . .

Always put the reds with the whites...and use hot water.

No seriously. Just do darks with darks on cold water and do whites with whites on warm or hot. Red you have to be careful with..once a red is faded somewhat then it's ok to wash it with darks.

Jesus I'm bored.

You've got that backwards buddy :)

Whites are done in cold water if there's bleach used, as bleach is de-activated by heat.

Colors are always warm.

Keep whites separate from coloreds...no problems (wow, sounds like a white power trip)

If you have anything colored that's new, make sure you wash it with similar colored or darks so that if it runs at first it doesn't matter. Most new clothes will bleed a bit, just anticipate it and don't throw a new pair of jeans in whith your whites.

Other then that, not much to learn.

I use cold water for whites and colors. Warm to hot water sets in stains.

Everything will stay brighter and colors will last longer.

Learned that from a little Italian old lady in the neighborhood LOL.

I'm banned from doing the laundry ever since I shrunk my wifes dry clean only stuff. Now all I have to do is help fold it. :D

Cicillian????

Cold water is the go for all types. Been doing the washing for years.
The only thing extra that we do is add a booster like Nappysan to get that extra brightness in the coloureds and really white teeshirts, sheets and towels. White bath towels are a PITA to wash, but she still bought them.

just do everything in cold ...
do colors together & whites together ....

... and don't forget to add softener during the rinse cycle!

That'll work. ;) :D

Why don't you sell the washing machine and save all the washing for your next visit to Tigress, Dino? Problem solved. :D
That way you will get to see her more often and your washing will be done regularly. While you are there the ironing as well.

j/k Tigress. ;)
