Rogers Cable ... sister now has Wireless Router to her laptop!!

Post by NICK »

Ok So I tried to tweak my cable with the reg patch and stuff... it said 480 / 180 or so....very very slow for my cable!! (used to be 1000+/200) i dont know whats wrong. ANyways.

Then my sistr just got a wireless network card to a D-link Wireless broadband router and i retested, we ran at the same time, hers didnt even show up and mine was just 250/160!!

Any help to tweaking my cable to be fastr? Since i do the downloadin and the gaming.

Ah yes.

1. Cable, Rogers Canada Hi-Speed

2. Not sure about advertised. Something arond 1500 or 2000.

3. Windows XP home

4. SpeedGuide.net TCP/IP Analyzer

TCP properties for IP = XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (wc08.ym.rnc.net.cable.rogers.com)
Browser/OS = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1)
Note: Read the Analyzer FAQ if the above is not your IP address.

TCP options string = 020405b401010402010303000101080a3c9b769900000000
MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.
MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1448, which is less than MSS because of Timestamps, or other TCP/IP options used.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 17520
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 17520

RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)
bandwidth * delay product:

Your RcvWindow limits you to: 700.8 kbps (87.6 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 280.32 kbps (35.04 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
Consider increasing your RWIN value to optimize TCP/IP for broadband.
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 52 hops

TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) =
Timestamps (RFC1323) = ON
Note: Timestamps add 12 bytes to the TCP header of each packet, reducing the space available for useful data.

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00000000

BTW... my IP is supposed to be a 24.xxx but insteasd it is a 66.xxxx. What does that mean? How do i fix my cable to go faster?

Thanks in advance
