Benefits, testing, and Osan lol.....
Osan is in South Korea. You probably want to know if you'll have to go there or maybe how to insure you get to go there....one or the other. Well, it all depends on your career field. If you really wanted to go, then you would volunteer for that assignment and probably get it IF they needed someone in your particular career field and your particular rank. The assignment system is fair...that is why they call it EQUAL.
Benefits....you're taken care of. I don't know what you want to know about them so just ask specific questions.
Testing/Promotions.....pretty fair system with some flaws but it's more fair than the civilian sector because it's based on performance. WAPS....Weighted Airman Promotion System. DOD issues a cutoff score for a particular grade...let's say Staff Sergeant (E5) at 260 points. In simple terms...you get points for time in service/ time in grade, Enlisted Performance Reports, Decorations, and of course the two tests.....this all gets calculated together and if you meet or exceed the cutoff score...you get promoted. There are other ways to get promoted but they are special circumstances.
Got more questions.....post away.
