Re: Half Life 2 Screenies
Those are some sweet looking screen shots. They kinda look like they are set in a futuristic time though. The street kinda looks like its in Europe somewhere too.
Has anyone picked up this months issue of PC Gamer. The Half Life 2 story is on the cover. I have not seen any screenshots from inside the pages of it though.
I hope they release it faster than Team Fortress 2. They had better not hype it up too much......

No they won't give it too much hype. I read in an article how Valve knows how hype can kill a game before its even out. It does look futuristic, i can't wait!!
I don't understand, will TF2 have HL2 graphics? If not i'm not even going to bother playing it, I really wouldn't care. I remember seeing screen shots when they first started workin on it and they showed a spy hiding around a corner, the graphics looked better then the original HL... dunno...... nahhhhh, couldn't be

Yeah I have been stressing over the speed and power of my computer lately. I have been playing Xbox for quite a while now and there are some games that you can only get on the PC that I want. And some games just look better on PC. I need the best of both worlds so I think I'm going to have to suck it up and drop some money into the computer. Especially for all of these good looking games coming out soon.

No way , but then again I have never played any of the Doom series and the graphics are pretty sweet.
What system config that is AMD based and within a resonable price range, Do you guys think would be a good gamming setup for the next generation of Games (Doom 3 and Half Life 2)
Around a 2500+ AMD
1 GIG of Ram 3200 (200/400)
Maxtor 80 Gig HD
ABIT® KD7, Socket A, Via KT400 / VT8235 Chipsets
Sound card or Onboard 6 Channel?
ATI® Radeon™ 9700 Pro 128Mb DDR AGP TV-Out DVI
(OR)Asus® v9900/TD GeForce - FX 5800 w/128Mb DDR & 8X AGP
I guess what I'm asking is will a 2500+ be enough? And Should I go with an ATI card or Nvidia. I don't really care if it is top of the line. Affordability is an issue and anything is better than my P3 667 with a Geforce 2 GTS.

Right on. I was about to say. We are both in trouble if your current spec was the same as mine.
How do you like your ATI (Drivers and all)? I have always bought Nvidia, but I think this upgrade (which is long over due) I'm going to go with ATI. 9700 or 9800 depending on the price at the time of my purchase. I was going to go with Raid but I figure whats the point with hard drives being as big as they are these days.

I was disapointed with the 9700, but then the drivers got a little better and it turned out to be not that bad. If there was an NVIDIA card at the time that rivaled the 9700 I definatly would have went with it. If I were to be upgrading now i'd wait till the FX 5900 comes out, whenever that will be.
I don't see why more people aren't going with SCSI, I think they're just afraid of it. It's a little more expensive but its well worth it, i've got a 20GB 15k rpm, and a 40gb 7200 as back up. I just plugged the SCSI in the SCSI card and it worked... I was so surprised. I've never tried raid, but nothing beats SCSI. whatever, i'm still new to this PC crap, wait till someone else replies.
