ANyone use it? Does it work? And unless you plan on plugging your fan holes up how is it suppose to lower the noise level?

I've seen/read of ppl using it in their rigs suprisingly too. There are equivalent type materials specifically designed for rigs (and cheaper than dynamat) though...can't remember what site it was though...

Akasa is a popular one. Newegg has it, as well as many other online stores.

It works by absorbing the high pitched sounds from fans and such.

Actually, Dynamat has a PC version of their stuff...but since its top layer contains aluminum, you have to be quite careful not to put it where it'll be in contact with components...which is kinda stupid, since a PC case is such close quarters.

I use Akasa PaxMate and it does a great job. I've noticed a temperature increase of about 1 °C with two layers installed, but it cuts out a LOT of the noise, especially high-frequency noises generated by fans and faster hard drives. The real downside to it is that it's virtually impossible to remove it once it's applied.

I used this kit from Cascade. There's enough in that box to do three maybe four mid-towers. It's easier to work with then Dynamat and it doesn't stink like Dynamat. Some types of Dynamat have a smell, kind of like tar.

I use it in every PC that I build now, I put a lot of it in my server and you can't even hear it running. I have four hard drives, one case fan in the front, two fans in the power supply, video card fan, chip set fan, and OEM P3 heatsink/fan combo. The server sits in my desk and you can't hear it unless every thing in the house is off, like the TV's and such.

I recommend it highly. :D

You know what else I found is good for that? I put these rubber feet on my PC. Take off the stock plastic feet and stick these right on. :D

It's stops the vibrations from being transfered to your desk, which also helps cut down on the noise level.

I ordered mine right from the link I posted. That material and the rubber feet will cut it down a lot, I promise you that. It will get rid of most, if not all of it.

If you're asking about the Akasa, I usually get it either at Directron.com, PCMods.com or (if those two are out of stock) FrozenCPU.com.
