If I may, I'd like to ask everyone to simply think to a particular time in each one's life when they had felt love. Let's not bastardize this by creating questions about what love is or its degree or depth. Simply think to yourself while you are reading these words those thoughts which each of you have already begun to evoke. Now that you have undoubtedly picked the 'who' it was that these feelings were for and/or with I'd like you to recall how pleasant they were when that feeling could be shared with the individual.
On the other hand, I want you to now think about that same scenario but rather at a time when that 'someone' did not share these feelings or perhaps stopped sharing them with you. I am certain that each one of you recalls how much it hurt inside and how long it effected you and your outlook on things? For some it has even come to the point of taking their own life!
We can see that love is a powerful, encompassing feeling which is exactly why we have coined phrases describing love as 'falling in,' 'have a crush on,' 'in love with,' 'loved so much it hurts,' ' has been heartbroken,' 'he/she stole my heart' etc. and so forth. This 'thing' called love has made couragous men weak, soft-spoken men sing and write poetry, timid women fight for it, both sexes have died for it, wars have been fought for it throughout history. Finally and assuredly I say no matter how course and stern self satisfied or successful one portrays oneself to have become, we ALL desire it.
Moving on from there I now want you to think of yourself stranded on an island but this island is absolutely and completely deserted and in no way accessible to rescue. You are alone on this island indefinately without human beast or critter or crawler. To further indulge your ponderousness, if I may, please contemplate the idea that instead of hunger, thirst or some such physical need governing your being the one thing which must be satisfied is the sharing of love. In contrast to the systematic steps of hunger to eat to nurishment for body it is rather hunger to share love to be loved in return. You starve to share the love that is your entire being but completely alone the hunger consumes and preoccupies you.
At a point not measured with time since time does not exist in eternity you discover a small recorder and immediately begin to share your love by starting the recorder and expressing love through poetry, song speech, promises and every way you can imagine. You say, "Oh how I love you, there are no numbers to measure, no boundaries to hinder no depths will not fill. It burns beyond temperature and beyond timeline as well. For my love for you has no beginning nor end that I share."
You then rewind the recording and play it back holding it close to your ear. Anxiously waiting for that love to be shared. However, the words that you spoke which were so filled with love and expression are only monotonous and droned phrases which were already expected. How could you even have thought that this cloned, mechanical, predetermined result could bring satisfaction to you? It is not love shared and received because you made it so there was no other way for it to be recieved or heard. This is not love because it is only a mechanical robot of what you made. Knowing that the recording was going to be exactly what you told it to be and to say exactly what you want it to say makes it meaningless and worthless.
At another point unmeasurable with time, you 'imagine' beings and soon you begin making these images just to your liking. With your hands you mold these 'images' using the sand and clay and you make each one of them slightly different so that they are ALL unique. These unique items you name saying "Since you are mine I give you a mind. From my emotivity I give you emotion...
You think back to the recorder and the emptiness it had and you rare back and scream out loud, "How can I FREE all this love that's inside me? WILL these children of mine be only drones unable to share this gift I give FREELY? WILL they share with me what I give FREELY? WILL they? It's FREE!! FREE!! WILL they?!
Smiling you leap to your feet and hurry to you creation and in all perfection you give them freedom to choose to love their creature as well as each other. You now name the third and most important trait of all that which is called free will for them all. Looking down from above you watch them all. Crying when they hurt and laughing when they sing and hoping that each of them comes back to you because they wanted to. If they do not want to then that is their choice so you leave it to each to decide which road they will take and you also make it known deep inside everyone that you are waiting for them to decide.
So the end for all is not up to God but rather to you and on that He will honour. Since we were made out of love and given the will to decide which road to charter. One leads to home and to God of all Love the other leads away from God and His love. So looking back then you see that the choice is yours...to feel that pleasure of love shared or the pain and heartache of not sharing love. Remember, as I stated above, that unshared love has brought even death to some. So if you wish to think of hell as fire and heat that is fine...but I also have heard of it stated as hoplessness and despair. Isn't that the same thing we all felt at the time when love was lost? So ultimately hell is simply the absence of God yet heaven is eternally sharing love...the feeling...not only with the Creator but with all those who chose to love as well.
Take a college level physical chemistry course. I could given you the mathematical derivation and even give you evidence of its application, but you would choose to doubt it, since you feel safe in beliefs.

I'm not sure that using the second law in the fashion stated, really works. We're not talking about a bubble full of tiny micro orginisms...with a short lifespan....
I also find it ironic that on one hand, a person would use a fundamental law of physics to prove a case and then cast off all science as evil.....Which is it?
I used to use the second law as an argument for both the existence of G_d and proof that Evolution was a false theroy.....I've since changed my mind about it all...when I quit reading religious "theories" as to how it should be interpreted from writers who really only had an agenda to prove the "begots.."
I've decided that since the old testament relates time to G_d as inherently different than it is for ourselves...I'm content to say that the first few verses of Genesis and science seem to be in somewhat agreement.
Here's the kicker...IF someone else has a different idea..so be it...your entitled to it, just as much as I am to mine........

I hate this "only a theory" crap.
Gravity, for fscks sake, is still a theory!!! Science is NEVER complete. We have NOTHING that is not still a scientific theory! Science has never once said "This is how it is, we are complete, we will never touch this again." That's the beauty of science over religion. We continually evolve our ideas and update our theories.
I disagree....I don't think it's all that easy to disprove evolution.......at to it's only being a theroy....don't get me wrong. I do go to church...however I also think it's easier to prove than the existence of G_d...
Which brings us back to just how silly religious threads are.. You have your ideas..and won't budge. Brent has his....Mehement has his....and so on and so on.....
So what is the point of it all?
To top it all off, even the Christians can't agree on faith. My dear departed mother was convinced that Catholics won't see heaven because they worship graven images....sheesh...I know Baptists who think that Methodists won't make it because they aren't fully baptisied...None of the Protestants or Catholics seem to think that Mormonism is even a Christian religion..(leave this one alone I"m only making a point, please..) and so on and so on....Plan silly.

Nepenthe I think based on your remarks that you missed exactly what it is I was saying. My point being that I belief in Creation and no teacher and/or class for that matter will change that belief. I have taken multiple classes regarding science and evolution during the course of my life and outside of the couple of christian schools I attended none of the others ever presented both sides of the story. In public schools they always offered up only a theory of Evolution and never dove into Creationism, a process that I can assure you the Christian schools I went to didn't take on themselves. All of the Christian schools I attended explored the idea of Evolution which was admirable IMO because unlike the public schools I attended they at least chose to look at the other side.

Funny you mention that..why are there so many different sects for one religion? This is what boggles my mind. Of course everyone thinks they are right and everyone else is wrong.
And here is a sidenote for you DH and I know you will love this one =)
I was talking to my wife today and she is big into church/religious/saved...anyway the name of her Church is Grace Community Baptist Church....she told me they are changing their name to just Grace Community Church...and when she told me I fell on the floor. Know why they are changing it? Supposedly Bill Clinton is a baptist and they want nothing to be associated with Bill Clinton. I am not making this up...LOL
acutally she just told me that was another reason as well...other is they dont want to scare poeple away with the word baptisim.
kind of funny...they have to have a gimmick in order to get people to come to church like they are in advertising
