FreeCell error.

Post by smidley »

Hey all. Ok, so I'm at work tryin' to fix this ladies computer. (nobody say PICS? lol) Guess what her problem is... Freecell doesn't work. It comes up with one of those error messages that says close or ignore. if you click ignore, then nothing happens... the error just stays there. If you click close, then an illegal operation message comes up. here is what the error says.

FREECELL caused a general protection fault
in module CARDS.DLL at 0001:00000903.

By the way, the OS is windows 98SE
I have tried uninstalling the games and reinstalling them and that didn't work. I went and downloaded cards.dll and tried replacing the existing one. But that didn't work either. Anyone have any other ideas? Thanx for any help provided.

Nope. there are like no programs installed. I have no idea what could be causing this.

Anything out of the ordinary running in the background that might be conflicting with Freecell when it opens?

CARDS.DLL

Compare the date and size of this file on a healthy machine. May just need to replace it, depends on why it was throwing the GPL
anything is possible - nothing is free

Yea, I tried downloading the cards.dll file from the internet, and it was the same size and everything, but it still didn't work.

Mad doc, I don't remember the size (I'm not at work anymore) but I'll post as soon as I get back to the problem tomorrow.
