Gasoline = $1.359 / gallon

Post by mountainman »

Alright !!! It is getting cheaper again !!! :D

I wasn't digging that $1.559 there for awhile. I think the highest I paid for a gallon was around $1.709 or something like that.

I feel sorry for others who were/are paying over $2/gallon or those from other countries who pay that much per liter. LOL

Ouch !

Trust me...when you live in an area with the highest gasoline prices in the nation ( for several years running) it gets old quickly.

Hell, some people a bit further north drive all the way to Oregon just to fill their tanks.

Only about 1 hour from where I live.

I guess if they live even further north and buy a few other things while there (no tax) it makes it worth their while.

Yes.

orlando, FL. = $1.78/gal. for premium

Down in south Florida the prices are a bit higher..
I think I paid about $1.99/gal for premium in West Palm Beach a couple of weekends ago.

I remember back when I first moved to Orlando ('97), the premium was only around $1.26/gal. I'd love to see those prices again. :)

You have to remember John, some of us out here got a 60-PLUS-cent increase. That's $6-$12 per tank (10-20gal tank) increase. If you're doing that say once a week on two cars, it adds up pretty quick.

Not all of are fortunate to live in the mid-west where gas is much cheaper than the rest of the country.

California is by far the most expensive on the West Coast. Here in Vancouver, WA, the lowest I have seen it is about $1.49. Still far above the $1.35 that MM reports, with a high of $1.70. That's QUITE a bit of difference.

I drive from 5 to 150 miles a day running service calls, my gas bill is high. I started driving the wife's Toyota, her four-banger gets a whole lot better mileage then the V8 in my T-Bird.

I agree with the notion of .15-.20 cent raise isn't anything to fret about... except when you drive a LOT. I have a 100 mile commute everyday (total). Plus, we drive the 220 mile roundtrip to skydive about once a weekend now. That adds up.

I'm glad both of our cars (95 Nissan Sentra & 96 Pontiac Grand Prix) get over 30 miles/gallon on highway.

Either way... it is nice when you fill up the car once every 3 or 4 days. :)

I completely agree with what you are saying.

It IS funny how people, when prices get high, will sit in line at a station to save five cents a gallon, and the station across the street (with the higher price) has no line. All for what? Fifty cents or so? That is silly, yes. Definitely. My time is worth MUCH more than that.

thats not an option for most in delaware....unless you live in the city its not feasable.

the closest bus stop is about 3 miles away and right near my job and it doesnt stop at my school either....basically Id have to walk more than I was on the bus. Then theres the other problem of running errands....maybe if we had a better transportation system around here I might.........well.............nah :p I love to drive too much Ill just pay the gas prices...

HOLY *****!!!

1.39?? you crazy?

2.09 is the lowest here..

Dakota, thats not true here, shell is usually next to most of the cheap stations.. the cheap stations usually ahve it for around 2 bucks, while shell has 2.60, and thats for REGULAR 87.

I think shell does the whole getting next to a cheap gas station on purpose, theres three of them like that here.

Considering the environmental costs of using gas, the cost for gas is actually quite cheap, even at $2/gal. The only effective way to get people to use less gas is to charge more. If everyone drove cars instead of SUVs, the price of gas would probably be a lot lower.

Or it would be more since they wouldn't be making NEAR as much and would have to compensate.

Oh contrair!! If the car manufacturers would use current technology that is now, and has LONG been available, you could get 100mpg on a SUV. That mindset of charging more to force people to use less is so governmental and elementary logic.

Fortunately logic doesn't have to be complex to be effective.
The technology may be there but the expence of these technologies is so great that it rules out their implementation because of lack of demand (since gas is relatively cheap).

True... gas is cheap.

So what would happen if everyone got 100mpg and they only sold 1/5 of what they do now ? You think they'll lower the prices more ? Hell no !

The prices would go up so they could cover theirs costs and whatnot. Or, they would go out of business.

Gasoline combustion engines have been outdated for decades.

The technology is there to use other methods but the oil industry is one of the most powerful ones around and had used its influence and money to either buy out alternative methods or prevent their implementation.

IMO, of course.

Bush is funding the 1.7 billion for research into alternative energy with the money from the opening of the Alaska Wildlife Preserve to oil drilling. At least that is what he proposed, I don't know what the current status is.

Blisster is that just one station? The price varies a lot in San Francisco from station to station.

very true. the stations on the 101 through the city are notoriously higher than than most of the others, this was at the local station by my appartment. The station across the street is a bit cheaper (ie 10 or 12 cents a gal.)
