file sharing

Post by darkreign »

i have this problem. my isp somehow blocked (capped) download rates from kazza, imesh and every other file sharing client and i cant get anything more than 10kb. most of the times its just 1-3kb. I was wondering if there are any programs i can use besides (kazzahttp, httptunnel) to tunnel from socks to http.
if there are any other ways wouldnt mind hearing them.
thanks in advance

KaZaA and IMesh are full of spyware and that could be your problem. You should should tweak your connection as normal for optimal speed.

Yes it would, you would be very surprised at what it will do to the speed of your pc and internet connection, I have seen spyware drag both down to a crawl.

get rid of adware

To get rid of some spyware tapewormed to Kazaa and Grokster:

http://download.com.com/3000-2144-10194 ... ag=lst-0-1

DO NOT DELETE CYDOOR FILES, NEED TO RUN PROGRAMS EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE ADWARE. You can actually delete the cydoor program, but you have to leave a couple of the files so that Grokster/Kazaa thinks its there. I don't remember hwat they are, but I'm sure you'll figure it out.
Also, look for more sources, right click on file while downloading/searching and click "find more sources" this will grab more users of the network and start downloading pieces form their files also. So basically you get two people's dial-up connections going instead of one. meh...

try a program called "kazzom" from http://www.downloads.com" to automate this process.

There is another file sharing program called "edonkey2000" it wrks off srvers or somthin, chek it out, its ok, hard to configure with firewalls, or ICS.

The donkey is too slow. Get kazzaa lite++ and run adaware and spybot. Now when you do install read through it. Don't mindlessly hit next or you may have accepted to install Gator and UCmore. If your ISP is limiting usage thank the recording Ind. and loosers like Metallica. The new trend for the p2p debate is for copyright holders to go after those who use it. It's pretty shadey stuff going on in that realm. Good luck. If its that important try changing ISPs as a last resort.
