There's nothing sweet about it as far as I'm concerned. The prevalence and praising of Eminem just shows the depths to which our culture is continuing to fall.

What he does is not singing... more like ranting with a beat. As for the writing

Eminem SPANKS every other rapper out there , hands down.

You almost have to have lived a life somewhat like how he explains in his songs to have an understanding of his anger...

We are ALL different, saying that, Eminiem deserves the Oscar.

You have to look at what the Oscar represents. It represents the best film or part of a film in a particular area reguardless of the message contained there in. Should Eminem win this yes.

Now should Eminem win the Nobel Peace prize? No.
Respect it.

If I could I would.... I'm not good looking/controversial/taltented enough...

but seriously..... I respect all forms of art... or expression of oneself..... even though many won't say rap is... like me for one... but I respect the people who does such thing...

I think you meant "rapping".... although if I could get paid for raping...

Kidding aside, there are people who are far more talented than he is as musicians. His skill is the flavor of rebellion today, great for him. Dr. Dre has his crew produced some of the best rhythm hooks for MM, that is why he is where is.

I want to learn more and more to see as beautiful what is necessary in things; then I shall be one of those who make things beautiful. Amor fati: let that be my love henceforth! I do not want to wage war against what is ugly. I do not want to accuse; I do not even want to accuse those who accuse. Looking away shall be my only negation. And all in all and on the whole: some day I wish to be only a Yes-sayer.

I totally agree with this also. I never really have, maybe to the shame of me maybe not, put much stock in the politics of people that entertain me. Its how the music makes me feel and that is done with the way the vocals blend with the beat. I know of course that in rap and in all music generes that the lyrics are usually a window into the artists politics but if it sounds good to me I like it. Example being bob marley's very political tracks. I could never even pretend to tell you about what it felt like to live in 60's and 70's Jamacia and I really am not very well versed in the whole political and social climate of the time but the music just moves me somehow. Same with MM.

I cant see how you can compare a nazi leader to a entertainer

eminem says what he says to sell albums its his way of making money and paying the bills, what about the shock rock of the 70s alice cooper every period in music has there artist that people think are controversial or cause trouble

my family lives in detroit and i have been on 8 mile rd and in some of the really rough parts and its not all sunshine and roses there

and what if its the case of what he raps about is his release for his frustration much like art has been for all artists for 100's of years

you dont have to agree with the what he says.......youve got that right and hes got the right to do what he does

he's not gifted in his lyrical ability, yes i hate him but i will say he is gifted, gifted in marketing and in knowing where he should take his carreer.

very little rap lyrics are great in the whole scheme of things. what u highlighted is dumbed down poetry. he cant express his feelings fully so the f word, fag/dyke comments and propaganda are used in his songs to fill the void. now swearing does have a place in music i feel, its just that he over uses it and the full intensity is lost.

the thing that makes me really hate eminem is the horrbile use of the Led Zepplin song :(

Eminem is probably the best rap artist ever.
But that's still not saying very much, as rap is most often a monotonous (tho there are exceptions) celebration of / excuse for cultural degeneration and illiteracy. And what's with the silly copied hand gestures from almost every rapper? We've been seeing that for YEARS. Same old sh*t. Doesn't anybody have the guts to acknowledge how LAME that looks? I guess what bugs me most is the absolute lack of musicality/melody or whatever in most of it. Again, Eminem has been better than most with that. Without Me actually sounds like a real song, not just a heavily accented tirade mixed with a few thumps.

Marshall's obviously a pretty smart guy. At least he knows how to make $. Also doesn't hurt that he's good looking. But if he wants more credibility from people like me (hah! :D ) he'll have have to do a little less pandering to the uneducated, the pointlessly angry, and those who think there's nothing more cool than to go slumming.

LOL YoS, I can't believe you said he doesn't have a lyrical gift. I hope you know there are other songs he SINGS SINGS SIIIINGS besides the ones in his albums and soundtracks. No one should be offended by what he says... it's called music.. he's stating his opinions and thoughts... Just as you and I.. I'm not even going to argue anymore... I blocked out all the damn curses and it was still edited-lol >sigh<

You don't mean PG13... because it was already... you mean NickJr status..

So what he talked about the white house being whiped out--anyway, lemme not start anything...

Since they aren't allowed to wave guns in their videos, they do that. What's a rapper going to do anyway? Dance around like a fruity backstreet boy?

>Speaking< with hands is very common in hip hop.. just like using heroin is for Heavy metal bands.
