GeForce4 MX question
GeForce4 MX question
My Friend says that its not a good card, why not?
64 MB DDR Nvidia GeForce4 MX graphics card with TV out

The MX or any MX card is not a good card at all. Poor quality, poorly made and it won't run the new games. It's a decient low grade card if you're not into gaming.
You'll do better with a Ti series:
GF3 Ti500
GF4 Ti4200,4400,4600.
The GF3 Ti500 is a low budget card, but it rocks. If you've got a little more to spend, the GF4 Ti4200 128MB is the way to go.
Prices are dropping like crazy so you can pick one up at a fair price and it won't burn a hole in your pocket
Trust me, don't get an MX card unless you're not gonna do anything like game and stuff

now then. you can get a gf3 ti200 64meg for 80ish from newegg. i wouldnt even go that low if I was you though. in my opinion, anything less then a ti4200 is a waste of your time at this point. i have a ti4200 128meg and I love it... never skip frames.
besides... no matter how low you have the settings, the gf4 mx is still going to skip frames on you in the more graphic intensive games.

Never heard of the brand, but any Ti4200 is INFINITELY better than an MX card.

WTF?!?!?
the site you're referring to is http://www.hardocp.com
another good resource is http://www.hardforums.com
in my opinion... the best resource is good though. just type in the card you're interested in, along with the word 'review'. read about each one and comments each reviewer makes. that will give you some good grounding to make your decision

I have a Geforce 4 440 mx, with 64 mb ram, i bought it cause my geforce 2 ti decided to go up to silicon heaven.... awhhhh
soo i decided to buy a nice budget card, and the gf 4 440 mx was a good buy at the time, and it still is, it runs all the major gamesat present and will continue to do, untill ALL games require a geforce 4 ti or a radon 9700.
My card is capable of running splinter cell and the new project igi 2 and handles quake 3 and unreal 2003 and unreal 2 with no problems at all. It also is good when playing it via my t.v given my t.v is old and ****ty but it works fine on my m8's plasma screen and does not flicker or distort.
I would say if u want a cheep card that does the business go for it, but if you can afford it go for something a bit more classier like the ati radon 9500 or the 9700 or a gf 4 ti
hope this helps
and have fun
