Yes everything French. :D

If it doesn't have the "Made in the U.S. of A." logo on it, we just won't purchase it.

Good luck being able to do that.

I want to learn more and more to see as beautiful what is necessary in things; then I shall be one of those who make things beautiful. Amor fati: let that be my love henceforth! I do not want to wage war against what is ugly. I do not want to accuse; I do not even want to accuse those who accuse. Looking away shall be my only negation. And all in all and on the whole: some day I wish to be only a Yes-sayer.

Sometimes the "Made in the US" stuff amuses me to no end.

My personal favorite was a box of stickers that one store in NYC had to put on some of their products. The stickers said "Made With Pride In The USA". The products were made in the US...

...but the stickers saying that came from China. :p

I'll second David's "good luck" comment though, especially when it comes to these newfangled computers we all seem to love so much.

That is brilliant :) , reminiscent of all the US flags made in China.

It is the fault of the manufacturers seeking to increase their profits by cutting on labor costs. Anything that can be outsourced overseas is done. Help desks are now being establish in India to handle problems in the US. The price of phone calls has dropped to the point where even help desks can be imported.

What I find concerning is that deficit we are establishing with China. Unlike a friendly Japan, China will be all too happy to see the US crumble. When they come to by American companies and real estate, things will get ugly.

I used to work for a Japanese company. For those that don't know it, "Bonanza" (the TV show) was huge in Japan. One of the green card execs was pretty disappointed after a trip to the Ponderosa Ranch in Nevada.

His son purchased a tin cup in the saloon, and when they got in the car they noticed the bottom was stamped with "Made in Taiwan". :rotfl:

Okay!

Once upon a time in a nice little forest, there lived an orphaned bunny and an orphaned snake. By a surprising coincidence, both were blind from birth.

One day, the bunny was hopping through the forest, and the snake was slithering through the forest, when the bunny tripped over the snake and fell down. This, of course, knocked the snake about quite a bit.

"Oh, my," said the bunny, "I'm terribly sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you; I've been blind since birth, so I can't see where I'm going. In fact, since I'm also an orphan, I don't even know what I am."

"It's quite OK," replied the snake. "Actually, my story is much the same as yours. I, too, have been blind since birth, and also never knew my mother. Tell you what, maybe I could slither all over you, and work out what you are, so at least you'll have that going for you."

"Oh, that would be wonderful" replied the bunny. So the snake slithered all over the bunny, and said, "Well, you're covered with soft fur; you have really long ears; your nose twitches; and you have a soft cottony tail. I'd say that you must be a bunny rabbit."

"Oh, thank you! Thank you," cried the bunny, in obvious excitement. The bunny suggested to the snake, "Maybe I could feel you all over with my paw, and help you the same way that you've helped me."

So the bunny felt the snake all over, and remarked, "Well, you're smooth and slippery, and you have a forked tongue, no backbone and no balls. I'd say you must be French".

I won`t go into further discussion with this issue . But I`m not pro-war. But according to that clown Mr Bush this means I`m pro-terrorist. What a clown :D . :rotfl:

" Anyone who is not with us is with the terrorists? Bush proclaimed. The September 2002 document entitled The National Security Strategy of the United States, which for the first time included the notion of preventive war, confirmed the new orientation of the hyperpower, which was convinced that its own interests were henceforth synonymous with justice. "

I have many friends in USA, of different ages, from different regions and having different occupations. What is common for all of them all is that they read overseas newspapers on the net, because they want the real truth and not the suppressed truth that is represented in the American media.

Here is some french views along with official documents presented by the Bush administration : http://mondediplo.com/focus/iraq/r1457 Die Hard

Why are people mad at france for using the UN to protect an oil deal when the US just wants to invade so they can steal all that same oil outright? At least France is using official channels and working within what little we have by way of international law to achieve their interests. From the sound of things, the US will just brush the rest of the world aside and invade illegally. Its really the pot calling the kettle black, isnt it?

WWI and WWII should answer all those questions. France's primary language isn't German but it could have been. ;)

France and Russia have deliberately and illegally skirted the resolutions by the UN in their oil deals with Iraq. The US wished to go through UN channels but found that the entrenched French and Russians did not wish to lose their ill gotten gains. At least this is how I have read it.

I am hoping that the show of brinksmanship will bring a peaceful resolution.
