Slow Browsing

Post by riguy1966 »

Does anyone have any idea why my web browsing might be slowing down? I am on a cable connection and my d/l speeds are fine. My problem is when I am using IE for surfing. My page to page surfing slows down. I't not a full cache. when i did a new install of the OS recently my pages would load instantly but after installing all my regular programs my page to page browsing has slowed. I can't fugure out what the problem might be. Can anyone help me?

Thanks

Try this registry tweak to see if it helps:

For XP & 2K

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\ServiceProvider

For 98, 98SE & ME

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\MSTCP\ServiceProvider

All OS's change these entries: (ALL values are HEXIDECIMAL)

Class = 1
DnsPriority = 1
HostsPriority = 1
LocalPriority = 1
NetbtPriority = 1

For 98 & ME they should all look like:

01 00 00 00

Reboot so changes take effect and see how fast your pages load.
