How much disk space does it want?

The actual drive space it uses depends on what options you install with it; I think the maximum is 360 MB or so.

The typical Windows 98 or 98SE installation requires about 195MB of hard disk space. Installation can take as little as 120MB of disk space or up to 295MB, depending on your system and the options you choose to install.

If you use the FAT32 file system, you will gain about 10 to 15 percent more efficient use of disk space on a larger hard disk (above 512MB)

I'm installing 98 SE on a laptop that has 95 on it. I keep getting the message that I need to purchase an upgrade version of 98 since 95 is already in place.
I recall running into this before and worked around it on a desktop, but I can't remember how to do that.
I booted from a 98 SE bootup floppy and told it I wanted to install 98 from CD. That didn't work.
What am I missing?

Back-up your desired file from 95 and get rid of it (IMHO). Create your slices in FDISK name one C: and install 98SE. THats the best I can tell you other than to install Linux :D :D :D

I'd like to dump all of '95 but it's an old notebook and I fear wiping out some driver I need and can no longer get. I've backed up the entire install of '95 to CD, but am unsure how to ferret out what I might need if the 98 SE gives me a computer that won't work.
Suggestions?
