New Comp ... Bad Problems

Post by Merc »

Hey got my parts for my new comp finally ... Put everything together start it up ... then 10 sec later it shuts itself down .... no beep no nothing.

Here is what I am using:
Asus a7n8x
Cosair PC3500 512 DDR ram
Xp 2700
Radeon 9700 Pro
SB Audigy
Vantec Stealth 420w PSU
Thermaltake Volcano 9 HSF
Thermaltake Xaser 2 Case
IBM Desktar 60gig HD

I have tried everything I can think of I stripped it down to the most basic and no matter what It shuts itself off. Its about driving me nuts so any suggestions would be great.
We have seen their kind before. They're the heirs of all the murderous ideologies of the 20th century. By sacrificing human life to serve their radical visions, by abandoning every value except the will to power, they follow in the path of fascism, Nazism and totalitarianism. And they will follow that path all the way to where it ends in history's unmarked grave of discarded lies.

It might be the "auto-shutoff" feature in the BIOS that kicks in when your CPU gets too hot. Is your CPU heatsink seated properly? Did you apply thermal grease? Did you make sure the fan was running?

Yup. Sounds like an overheating problem to me.

use the arctic silver. My system did the same thing. Turned on for like 5-10 seconds then turned off. I found that my cpu shim was stuck on the rubber stub of the cpu causing the heatink seated improperly.

That hsf should cool a bunch better than that....50c really isn't that bad for a cheaper hsf but you should be a lot cooler.

I'd check the seating on the hsf again. Maybe pull it off, clean it off and start over.
