Hey, remember me? My computer was formatted by my brother last night due to the many bugs online. He claims that because of some tweaks, it affects the web pages login or something that i had experience. Does tweak have harmful effects in machine at all? Well in any case im faithful and was planning to tweak my connection again...
Heres my system info:
Win XP SP1 - running on a 2.14 ghz system with 512 ram.
My provider is Earthlink/ Time Warner cable, the cap is 2000/384
Yea i also have dl the patch of what they call the something patch on speedguide.net thats on XP/Win2k.
My test on the stuff:
TCP options string = 020405b40103030201010402
MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.
MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.
Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 256960
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 2 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 64240
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)
bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 10278.4 kbps (1284.8 KBytes/s) @ 200ms

VERY IMPORTANT TO DO THE FOLLOWING
1. Under your LAN connection - properties - general tab, uninstall all the protocols there that you do not need.
2. Open IE and select tools - internet options - connections - LAN settings, make sure NOTHING there is checked.
3. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your NIC from the manufacturer. Set your NIC duplex mode to 10mb half duplex for Cable, for DSL it is ISP dependent unless you are using a router, if so then set it to 100mb full duplex for both Cable & DSL (the instructions are in my Help & Tips link). If you are using a router make sure you have the latest firmware.
4. Clear your temporary internet files.
5. Power cycle your modem, unplug it for atleast 15 seconds.
6. Download and update then do a scan with SpyBot, anything checked in red is spyware and safe to remove.
7. Make sure you do the faster web page tweak in my Help & Tips link.

after the tweak you gave me, and i followed the cablenut settings. But i didnt notice any real changes or improvements... at times even more unconsistant for games. i.e Counter-strike.
I want a very constistant machine for gaming changin latency/ping interval of 1-10. Is this even possible due to the many variables out there. It just pop to my head to ask and question about the incoming infos. I know curiousity will be teh death of me. Thx in advance, if u could come up with any better solution.

Wow, fast reponse. Yea Im pretty sure that I've set my NIC settings to 100 mb full duplex because i got a Linsync Router/Ethernet and how do find the updated driver for CNet PRO200 PCI FAST ETHERNET Adapter.. I used the device manger to press update, but i wonder if thats wrong or ways to manually install it. K.

I would suggest having a higher Recieve Window, something like 513920, or perhaps 642400. If you want lower PING, perhaps you could set your MTU/Rwin lower. And perhaps change the NIC setting to half duplex if you will. ISPs only run on half duplex, so full duplex only helps you if that computer is a server to other computers.

Huh? RWIN has no effect on latency and all RWINs like that will do is cause more retransmissions, his duplex setting is correct at 100mb full duplex since he using a router.
