I am a unionized Union employee.

Post by Gaming-Module »

Today was my third day at the UAW. I am really loving this place. I have my own office on the sixth floor penthouse, which is currently under renovation and doesn't look much like what you envision when you hear the word "penthouse", but I basically took the furniture that was lumped into one corner with the slipshod hooked up PCs and moulded the office into what I wanted it to be. I'm really proud of the interior decorating. There's also a microwave up there that someone forgot about so I'm gonna clean it up, bring in a Mr. Coffee and put together a makeshift kitchen in my office space. :D

As far as work I haven't done too much yet. Like I just said, the first half of my day was spent rearranging the furniture and configuring the PC equipment, as well as tracking down someone from custodial to tidy up the place. I have done some graphic work, HTML production, and editing of research materials.

Those aren't the only surprises that I wasn't expecting. Apparently I am a member of the Newspaper Guild of Detroit, have full health and dental, a life insurance policy. access to a gymnasium for $25 a year, and am getting a raise of $15 a week starting January 2003. :D :D :D

Damn I love this job.

(PS Sorry if this sounds like bragging, but well...hehe :D )

UAW headquarters on Jefferson and Van Dyke.

If you worked in Detroit instead of Ann Arbor we could go to lunch at one of the kickass deli's that are a stones throw from this place.
pics?
I'll see what I can do. I can take pictures of the Detroit River from my window too. [brag]I have a perfect view of it[/brag]. ;)

Cake Eater!

I was going to post a link to that thread, but the SG search results for "bullsh|t" were too numerous

sometimes you have to think outside the box to get inside the box ;).

Hey, G-M.
Is this where you are at, brother? If so, then the Union I am with represents the same workers as the UAW. Over here it's the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union or AMWU

Congrats on the job. Take care.
