It does seem very strange. But from his perspective, I suppose he gave his life for something he felt very strongly about... :shrug:

I don't know if I can justify it, but...

Have you ever been in a redwood forest? Awesome is still not the best word to describe the feeling you get in one.

I doubt he was looking to die, and even if he did, he might've seen it as a "greater good" situation, ie 1 human life < entire Redwood forests.

perhaps that sudden stop had something to do with it.
