Here's the problem : Ever since may, at random times during the day, my connection would get cut, and I woudnt be able to have internet for the whole day. But when it didnt cut, the speed was so slow that I had time to get myself a cup of coffee while a webpage loads. After numerous technicians, cable modem exchange, and calls to the customer service center.. they finaly decided to send a network technician to my neighborhood.. the problem..? He won't be able to come until October 20th.. and they're not even sure if it will help me or not.
Im DESPERATE guys/girls.. I don't know whats wrong! My connection is not EXTREMELY slow ( im on high speed cable ), and im even lucky that I can type this right now! Its a miracle that my connection is still working! I bet you that in an hour or two I won't have internet anymore
Also.. im the only one in the neighborhood with the problem..
I don't know what to do.. can someone sugest something? I can't change my isp, they are the only provider in my area..
MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.
Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 256960
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 2 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 64240
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)
bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 10278.4 kbps (1284.8 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 4111.36 kbps (513.92 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
What are your ISPs caps? If you are the only one with the problem the few things you can try are:
1. Under your LAN connection - properties - general tab, uninstall all the protocols there except TCP/IP Internet Protocol. (for 2K & XP)
2. Open IE and select tools - internet options - connections - LAN settings, make sure NOTHING there is checked.
3. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your NIC from the manufacturer. Set your NIC duplex mode to 10mb half duplex for Cable, for DSL it is ISP dependent unless you are using a router, if so then set it to 100mb full duplex for both Cable & DSL (the instructions are in my Help & Tips link).
4. Clear your temporary internet files.
5. Power cycle your modem, unplug it for atleast 15 seconds.
6. Download and update then do a scan with Ad Aware.
7. Check all your cables (RG6 mainly) and the splitters and connections on the cable - very likely a line problem at your home.
Thanks alot guys , I tried everything but im still getting the same problem.. I have no virus, since I just formated this morning. Also, I doubt its a cable problem, since the last technician that came changed the cable headend drop to my house and he checked the connections at the demarc.
As for my isp's caps.. last time I talked with a technician I remember that he told me that I should be getting 600kbs. Pretty far from the 10kbs (day and night ) that im getting uh?
Also, the same day that the technician came to change my modem and replace some cables, I was getting 250 kbs all day long. The very next day, I was back to 10-40 kbs. Weird... just plain weird.
u need to call help desk . iam a r.r tech thier is a prob with the main lines or your drop coming into your house make sure your outlet is dedicated to your modem
i had exactly same problem but its prolly different company.the problem was cable from network adapter to my phone line.btw im using adsl and not cable.i strumbled on that cable few times and i broke filter on my phone line.So i just took tape and fixed it.Now is all good.
