Help, Road Runner + LAN = Problems

Post by PaFl »

ok, here is the situation, i had an account with road runner for cable internet access. software = winxp pro, hardware = linksys NIC(that is not properly recognized by xp). I recently moved in with my g/f and she also has an account with road runner, software = win98se, hardware = same kind of linksys NIC. so i hook up through the linksys 5-port hub and all is well, or so i thought. every now and then we both loose our connection. the way i fix it is to "repair" the connection, and she has to release and renew form winipcfg. Is this problem with RR or is it my network config?

Must likely you both are trying to pull the same IP.
Why people use a hub is beyond me.
Cheap I guess.
Have her buy you a router/ or you her.
