Do you ever give up? Are you so involved with hate radio that it blinds you?
The most investigated man in the history of the planet does nothing but lie all the time eh?
Could your life be as exempt from falshood and bad deeds with only a million dollar investigation, with the CIA and FBI looking into your past? How about 56 million and Scafie pitching in another cool, 8 million.
Just curious.
The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, and prejudices to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all of its own for the children and the children yet unborn and the pity of it is that these things cannot be confined to the Twilight Zone.

I dont listen to hate radio, I am able to think for myself.
I just know the man is one of the best liars ever, and got away with it.
I will give Clinton credit for the only person to get away with what he can. He is a very good talker..but most of it is hot air, except for some reason most Americans who liked him fell for his charms. Not sure how sometimes I think Clinton signed a pact with the devil to get away with what he did.

LOL....davy, could you answer my question? You sidestepped it.
I couldn't survive a hundred dollar investigation....
Your favorite politician, how much money would it take to expose him/her as a fraud and a fake?
Hitler knew full well the power of porpaganda. He once said, "The grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down." Hitler understood that a mere accusation is often as damaging to a person’s reputation as a conviction in court.
Food for thought.......it seems to be as valid today, as it was then.
My last post in this thread, and to get back on topic, Brent, no....I missed it. I was called out.

I watched last night Brent and as alway was very impressed with the man. Asise from his private life (like no one else does it
) He was the grest President since FDR.He did more for this country then anyone since. That is an impressive list that davy has dug up. Likeit couldn't be done on any person in Washington or any place else.
I chalk up davy' point of view as being words of others that he has cut and pasted. Nothing more, nothing less. As to what was said about JANET RENO and the Branch Davidians in Waco, Texas.
I know this to be a lie. I have lived here all of my life and it was well known what David Koresh had been doing long before the ATF came in. The Davidians? They only fired on the ATF with automatic weapons.
Sorry for the rant and I know it is useless to try to make a point to closed minded people and I will not say anything else. LOL

Am I a democrat, no way. I am not either one. Never voted a party ticket yet. I vote for the person.

You so blindly hate Clinton you would pin the woes of America on him in a second. Though such ignorance is blissful in its own way, you should open your biased mind to the though that he may have done some good in his own way. Now here is an assumtion of my own, your probably a republican support (nothing wrong with that) but you would support George Bush Jr. Now why would I say something like that? Well you easily buy in to his politcal feces so it would seem logical to assume that you with your blinding hate you would give your whole hearted support to the only real opposition. You are a product of American political propaganda and I feel pity for you. Maybe you'll wake up one day and not know who you are any more, but I pray that you find peace in your heart.

I watched it and liked his comments about alternative fuels and energy sources. I agree that it should be a priority for us as well as the Middle East countries.
I was not too fond of his comments about immigrants though because it was this particular open door border policy which allowed our enemies into the country. Remember, 9/11 happened because we allowed the enemy in the front door. they did not have the capability to attack us from the outside via a missile, they attacked us from within using our planes as missiles.
I have to say this though.....Clinton was just one man. He did not formulate and implement policy and law by himself. It was in cooperation with a Republican controlled House and Senate that he was able to be viewed as an effective leader.
In my humble opinion...credit needs to be given to Congress for it's work on certain issues.
It must also be noted that the upswing in the stock market was NOT all of Clinton's doing...it was a simple cyclical change that happened to coincide with his administration. Sure he helped it along as did Congress....together, they both fostered an economic progress that we have never seen before.
And once again, we are seeing the negative cycle of the market as it adjusts to the bad business practices of the dot com boom. This just so happens to coincide with Bush's administration.....it is not his fault...just an adjustment period.

Yeah he balanced the budget by cutting and downsizing our military to the point where we need to rebuild back uip now anyway. It was a short term resoultion not a long one.
Name something else...
Well said terrancelam I didn't want to get into it that far becase nothing is going to change the gentleman's mind. I am happy you did tho.

While I disagree with the majority of Clinton's policies, he only kowtowed to his own party-line special interests like EVERY other president has, and does.
My problem with him is that I consider his behavior in regards to the sex scandal to be a disgrace to the office of the president. Unfortunately for the "supporters," not everyone "does it." I expect the leader of our nation to be as above reproach as is humanly possible and to be dignified at all times, in all matters; I feel Bill Clinton was a poor example in that respect.
Pollyanna-ish, I know.

Are you ****ting me? The only reason why that man was elected the first time was because of his charisma. The second time was a combination of charisma and the economy. The president has almost NOTHING to do with the economy. For the past 20 years, greenspan has been in control of it. The only thing clinton did to help the economy is to keep greenspan in charge of it. There is no way in hell I would ever compare him to FDR.

From Here...Way back in George Washington's presidency the courts decided that the private life of an official could not be attacked. Hamilton, Secretary of the Treasury, was taken to court on ethics because of an affair he had at that time with a married woman. The court's decision was a decree that no government official, elected or appointed, could be politically attacked on the basis of his private life activities. This has been the law ever since. How does it happen that this rule has now been rescinded for President Clinton?...
Another Story
While I don't think what Clinton done was right, was must people keep bringing this up like he was the only one to do it?

The excuse clinton followers make that everyone else in office fools around and cheats on their wives still does not justify and make it right to do it.
If that is the case then I can say well everyone else downloads warez, and illegal software and gets away with it, why not I do it.
Two wrongs never make a right.
Dont forget he perjured himself under oath, it does not matter what it is about, if asked under oath and you lie, you are still breaking the law, and if our president can lie anyone else should be able to. Who is to judge what is good to lie about under law and what is not?

I miss Clinton.
I miss the days when the President of the United States could actually think and speak.
I wonder what your evaluation was back in 1992 when Clinton became President...you were 9 years old then.
I'm interested to know your perspective as a 9 year old boy on the President of The United States.
Think and speak? Oh geezus h Christ! C'mon. Clinton the all knowing genius...blah blah blah. Bush is NOT stupid. I'd be willing to bet he'd run circles around all of us. You simply DO NOT get to be president if yer a dolt. His genius may not lie in public speaking, or things you'd notice right away. It could be his ability to choose folks that compliment his style of leadership, and make an effective force.
Don't be so quick to judge someone and brand them an idiot. You gotta know someone pretty well before that statement can be uttered with any certainty.

Not sure what you're getting at with this one......
I can't go back and recreate the language or mentality I had then, but believe it or not, I remember 1992 pretty well. I saw Clinton and Gore on their bus tour that year before he was prez. Never got to shake hands with him or anything, but it was pretty exciting. Big rally and all. They were playing Don't Stop Thinking About Tomorrow and everybody was pumped. That's probably about the first time I started paying attention to politics. Once you see the future president, then he's elected, it becomes interesting. I always had an opinion about most anything that was in the news. Clinton seemed to be on the right side of most things. I didn't have the perspective I do today, such has how Clinton fits into American political history, or how deficit reduction could be the starting point of an economic turnaround, but the basic logic involved in most simple issues (at least as you saw it on TV) was pretty clear.
But I certainly don't evaluate the Clinton presidency now based on what I knew or understood in 1992.

Well, you're using the word "dolt" not me. But yes you can be elected president without being intellectually capable. If you follow the political process closely, you know that Bush was the selection and product of a Republican party machine that carefully shaped Americans' perception of him. His exposure to the public was very limited and scripted.
I'm confident in my assessment that his intelligence is lower than should be expected of the most powerful leader in the world. It's not that he simply doesn't speak well (I don't either), it's that he personally seems to have a dangerously limited knowledge and understanding of domestic and international issues, not to mention history and philosophy. This is reflected in his speech. And please understand, it's not that I object to his sentence structure or word choice, it's that he can't articulate anything beyond basic themes because he doesn't have the substance to do so.   Also, I don't buy into the idea that knowing a few broad themes (as with Reagan) is sufficient for a president.
He does have a competent team around him, and yes that can actually work (hell, Barry Switzer won a Super Bowl because he had Jimmy Johnson's assistants and players). But I expect more of a president.

My point is this: You really didn't have a baseline to compare to. You weren't even born when Reagan was elected the first time. Reagan also had a wonderful way with words and invigorated the country into action. He, like Clinton, had some great speech writers!
So when you make the comment
I wonder if this isn't just a conditioned bias to the only President you really knew that had good speaking qualities.I miss the days when the President of the United States could actually think and speak.
I only remember Reagan because I was born in 1969. I think I was 14 at the time. I do remember President Carter and a few of his speeches which were mostly in relation to the bombing of the Marine barracks in Beirut. It would be unfair for me to make the same statement you did because I didn't get to hear Presidents like Ford or Nixon or LBJ or Kennedy. All I've ever heard from them is what I've seen in school presentations or on some TV History channel special.
I think it would be more fair for you to say that you simply missed Clinton....since it is all you've ever really known.
I'm not taking sides.
George Bush used to fly Fighter Jets for the Air National Guard in Texas. (Which rather conveniently kept him 10000mi away from Vietnam). The point is, he's a pilot. There aren't ANY dumb Air Force pilots that I know of. The training is too touch and the machines too complicated for dumb people to pass flight school.

Just a side note:
IMHO, in today's society, I feel that the President should act as a facilitator. The President should try to illicit the best ideas from Congress as a whole and help implement these ides into law and policy that serve the best interests of all Americans. You don't have to be the sharpest knife in the drawer to be able to ask for the best ideas from other people.
That, imho, is LEADERSHIP!

UOD,
I disagree because I have seen all those presidents. Not just them, but Bush I, Nixon, Johnson, and Kennedy as well. You should see my video tape collection. I have tapes of old debates (Dukakis/Bush -- Carter/Reagan -- Kennedy/Nixon -- and all three of Clinton/Perot/Bush and convention speeches (Jackson from '88 is the best). C-span ran these things in fall 2000. I've followed politcal discussions for years. When I was 12, I was watching McGlaughlin Group every week. No Joke! It's amazing how much of a perspective you can accumulate if you're interested in the issues and pay attention to what people say. In many contexts, historical references are a key part of current debate, and you pick up these things as they're discussed. I wasn't around for World War II either, but I think I have a good understanding of it.
btw, I'm a political science major, so this is almost my "job" in a sense.
As for Reagan's way with words, those were usually Peggy Noonan's words. He was uncomfortable speaking about policy on his own. Clinton on the other hand was notorious for rewriting anything that came from speech writers because he wanted control over what he was saying. Also, don't forget about the time the teleprompter went out for 20 minutes during Clinton's State of the Union address. He didn't miss a beat. Knew what he wanted to say, and said it. That would have been a disaster with Reagan.
