Tweaking 56k and Cable Modem

Post by TomMonger »

Hi all!

I used the TCP Optimizer to optimize my cable modem connection (I'm now getting 2.8 meg/sec!). My only problem is that it also changed my settings for my dial-up connection.

How can I optimize my dial-up connection (to my company's server) without changing my cable modem settings?

Thanks,
-Tom

When you tweak your settings they are all your TCP/IP parameters, no matter what type of connection. You set them for either dialup or cable. :)

So, when I need to use dial-up, should I just optimize for dial-up, then back to cable when I'm done? Or will the cable tweaks be good enough?

Thanks!

Some of the cable tweaks are different than dial-up. For example, your TcpWindowSize will be totally different for dial-up than it is for cable (much smaller than cable). You could save a Cablenut file for each connection and load it and restart when you want to change connections.

I do use "cable" settings for less important settings, but that's my crazy mind working there :) :D
