Hellooo Speedguide - want to see some MTB pics?

Post by grundy »

Hi guys. I've been gone for a while, but - esp since Vegeto is back - I thought I'd post this up here and see if anybody was interested.

I had a nice ride with my girlfriend this past Saturday.

We started the day with a tour of a new bike shop. They had Odis on sale. I go some Lock-On grips to replace my battered Ourys. They rock. I highly recommend them. [for the non-mtb: regular grips sometimes slip and spin on the handlebars, especially in the rain. These clamp onto the handlebar and are rock solid]

Then we hit the trails. It was such a nice, warm, sunny day that we decided to take it easy, spend plenty of time resting and enjoying the views, and ride as much singletrackas possible.

We came upon a big boulder in the path. I tried it from this side

but ended up flat on my ass. No pics, thankfully.

I tried it from that side

but didn’t quite make it.

We brought plenty of snacks, and made good use of them

This is steeper than it looks. The camera really flattens it out.

Fish and Game, apparently in a fit of denial about the advisability of releasing non-natives species into an ecosystem, released a few breeding pairs of turkeys. They are ****ing EVERYWHERE now. It’s not uncommon to see four or more flocks on a single ride. I’ve seen flocks of more than 40 birds. Bad move, *******s.

Image

I like to look over this view and pretend I’m in East Africa.

Image

It’s a fun ride – through redwoods, firs, madrone, oaks, and grasslands.

Image

unfortunately, the turkeys now eat all of the wild raspberries before I ever get to them.

Bambi!

And that’s all for the ride! A shower at the gym, a hearty pasta dinner, some wine, and my Saturday was done.

How was yours?

 thanks for the pics

I was going to post a link to that thread, but the SG search results for "bullsh|t" were too numerous

sometimes you have to think outside the box to get inside the box ;).

Those trails look awsome too!

Jeez, some of those pics DO look like Africa! Thanks for posting those, that was interesting, even to a non-rider like me. ;)
