Well my one buddy's car has been diagnosed as "serious condition" and is terminally ill...it only has one week to live. Seizing this opportunity, we decided to give this balogny myth a test and see what will actually happen.
The day is Saturday, August 24th at about 4pm. We commence putting the balogny slices on the car...

These were placed on the trunk of the car...notice the intricate designs?

These were on the roof of the car

Another shot of the trunk (again, look at the wonderful designs we made).
We continued to check on the development throught the rest of the day, and into the evening....the balogny still hadn't dried yet. So we left it longer. Interesting thing though, the balogny was able to remain on the car, even after we were driving it around a bit (went to McD's to get some McNuggets...mmmm). We noticed a few flies around it during the evening however.
The car was then left the entire night to undergo our experiment process. Thinking we could help it along a bit more, on Sunday morning, he put the car out into the sun to make it cook onto it more. Then in the afternoon he went to see his grandma for a bit, and had parked the car under a tree. When he returned, there were a couple squirrels on the roof of the car, eating away! If I was there, I would've taken a picture to show you guys/girls. So once he shooed away the squirrels, he eventually came back to my house (sometime around 4pm). Having the car in the sun and having it dry for so long, actually BAKED the balogny onto the car. We used the windowscrap (noticed in the pictures of the back of the car...that red thing in the back window)
Now....the outcome?? It didn't do a damn thing! Once the balogny was removed, you could kinda see a bit of a grease type ring around were the slices were, but it had not removed the paint at all!!
We were disappointed to say the least, but atleast we put the myth to rest. Balogny + car paint = not a damn thing!
The balogny was pretty good to eat tho while we were putting it on the car
