July 18th was when the NDA was lifted and the card was announced
the card will be out on shelves and online stores 30 days from July 18th
so sometime around August 16th time period, mid august
you can pre-order them now though from some places
and they are goin for $399 right now, price could change when it finally hits shelves though

That's a lot... I was thinking about a GeForce 4 Ti 4600 though... and this ATI will double it at certain resolutions... think it will be worth it? I will wait for Tom to come out with some benchmarks. I know he doesn't lie. He's THE man.

just cause of 1 problem you dismiss the r300Originally posted by LT-73
No doubt its a great card but i'll stick with Nvidia. For some reason i always have severe problems with the ATi cards and the Via chipsets.
this is the attitude I try to fight against
the r300 is NOT whatever card you tried before
the fact of the matter is the tech in the r300 IS the bestest stuff around
if you tried it i bet you would not be dissapointed, but oh no, can't do that, it's an ATI product i'm a loyal nvidia user

ATI gotten thier crap straight with the drivers yet? I had a helluva time with an All-In-Wonder, drove me batty for days. I then got very upset and stuffed the drivers in. Once done, it was/is a great card. I tinkered with a ATI TV card for awhile and it was also a major pain to deal with, again once the install was perfected, it performed great.

The drivers have been fixed since the 3286 drivers (XP) and that was early Radeon 8500 days. And since the drivers are unified, it won't get any worse. And ever since the 3286 drivers which is ANCIENT, it was no longer based on the Rage 128 code the original Radeon used although I had no problem with the Radeon.

Ahhh it was year/year and half ago. I have since switched to a nice and zippy Ge4, but when I ditch this box, I'll have to give the ATI's a look. Seems the drivers have been improved a bit eh?Originally posted by MartialArtist12

unfortunately that's only partially true.. i started seeing huge improvements personally w/ the 6025 xp drivers..but the driver unification means nothing as the latest cats don't work w/ the r300.. another version shipped on cd to reviewers (it has a different d3d driver..not sure bout OGL tho...brent may shed light on that..)Originally posted by MartialArtist12
