General discussion related to Cable Modems, DSL, Wireless, Fiber, Mobile Networks, Wireless ISPs, Satellite, or any other type of high-speed Internet connection, general issues and questions here. Review and discuss ISPs as well (AT&T / SBC, BellSouth, Bright House, CableOne, Charter, Comcast, Covad, Cox, Cablevision / Optimum Online, TMobile, Verizon FIOS, Shaw, Telus, Starlink, etc.)
AT&T Cable in Connecticut....used to get 180K transfers or so, so figured I was getting most of the 1.5Mbit bandwith they capped us all at...........
My online game ping times were in the 40's to mid 100's depending on the server, etc.
Now, however, for the past several days I've noticed my cable modem spending alot of time "resetting" itself..............and now I can't find a game online where I get a ping time of less than 300!!!
My download speeds have dropped to 40K downloads..
If it's resetting itself alot there is most likely a line problem somewhere maybe on your end or maybe on your ISPs end. I would suggest checking all your cable connections at your house and your cat5 cable that goes from your modem to your NIC and make sure they are all secure. Have you had any storms lately, possibly a surge or spike? Also try power cycling your modem, unplug the power for 15 seconds and plug it back in.
I ran the analyzer....is this the normal result for those of us on AT&T BI?
bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 350.4 kbps (43.8 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 140.16 kbps (17.52 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
Consider increasing your RWIN value to optimize TCP/IP for broadband.
MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.
Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 8760
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 8760
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

Dude your on Cable connection.. go ahead and download the optimizer and set it at extreme.. that should make a big difference but you're still going to have trouble getting downloads and uploads if the other parties your are downloading from and uploading to have a much slower connection than you..
get it up, get it in, get it out, and don't mess up my hair!

Hi, I'm a sig virus. Please add me to the end of your sig and help me take over the world.

Well yeah sorta high but we are looking for an average setting here lets start with the Corvette and work our way to a Lumina. and if its better for HeadRusch to use a Lumina then well just have to see.
HeadRusch, what are your download speeds after your little adjustments?
get it up, get it in, get it out, and don't mess up my hair!
