Pop-Ups
Can someone recommend a good utility to block pop-ups? Preferably freeware or shareware. It seems like everytime I get some of these, then I get doubleclick.txt or ad.txt entries when I run Ad-Aware.Or another good way to prevent these types of attacks.
pop up
this fire wall has a build in anti ad and pop up already. go to.. http://www.agnitum.com/products/outpost/[/URL]
Adshield from http://www.adshield.org will also do that for you or you can simply add the site to your Hosts File.
Adshield blocks listed pages, images, popups and scripted pages with a config option for each.
Any questions and they have a forum at Beckys.
Oh yeah... it's free as well, but so is Outpost if you need a great firewall.

http://www.panicware.com has a decent pop-up stopper called Pop-up Stopper.
Right click over the top of the ad you want to block > select "Add to Block List" > click ok when the URL appears. Ad BLOCKED! If you right click any other part of the page, the option to "Add to list" won't show.Originally posted by JackHamma96
Hey AdShield is pretty good, I can egt it to stop Pop-Ups but how do I make it block ads?
You will see the URL is only partially highlighted. What happens after the ad is blocked is all adverts from that site will drop off your screen, not just the one you selected.
One word about advertising. Responsible sites such as SG need the dollars that are brought in by members/guests using banner adverts. They also give you a virtual place to live/hide/whatever, for free. Allow these ads and use them. By all means block the ones from those companies that choose to exploit. Just be a bit picky. JMHO
Qui-Gon John.... Are you happy with what ZA is doing?
Yes = stay with ZA.
No = try Outpost.
Caution with removing ZA. It's a sticky program and you will need to follow the directions for uninstalling from the Zonelabs site. Don't rely on the uninstall that comes with it.

Well, as a matter of fact I do.
It's fairly big and you can get it from Becky's "Adshield Forum".
Open the page and scroll to the Adshield Forum >
Click the top "sticky" thread by wizzoz. He very kindly put it there after it was posted in another thread.
You may find the forum of help with the program as well.
Enjoy.
Oh, the link.....

Try ZoneAlarm Pro's Privacy feature and to that use the Kazaa lite supertrick or download an ad blocking hosts file.
