AdAware 5.83...

Post by Steven »

Yep it is now available :)

Ok now this is interesting and wonder if the guys at LavaSoft know that if you select CNet to download you are greeted with a add that directly targets another software product at Adaware. Not nice but on the other hand maybe this other software package is better???

Me goes to check it out. Thanks Steven.

It appears Cnet fixed the problem.

It does scan files slower then the previous version, however it's not as dreadfully slow as it has been in the past. I'm running Win 98SE. Maybe with a new reflist, it will improve?

If you mean 5.82, yes, at least so far. If it's older then 5.81 no.

No Problem. The new reference lists can only be used with the 5.8+ versions. They won't work with older versions. Heck, I'm beginning to wish I'd kept 5.82 for the time being.

It seems like the slow scanning isnt with Ad-Aware its self its the Ref File. I downloaded the new Adaware 5.83 and teh new file it scans slow. I downloaded 5.82 with the same ref file, and it scans slow. 29-15-06-2002 that was the fastest ref file, to bad I cant find it on the net :(

I think I'm going to start saving a copy of the earlier reflist's. That way, if things go slow, I can install the old one. Granted, it won't find everything, but oh well, it's an idea.
