ya know, i have a couple video clips on a storage drive that i have never actually viewed. some time ago i was the victim of curiosity after seeing the R. Bud Dwyer public suicide and looked for other things along those lines. i saw half of one, and didn't want to watch the other (left the room while a freind watched them. one was of a guy getting his throat ripped out by soviet military or something like that). that was more than 2 years ago. the folder had been moved many times but never deleted. why? curiosity, i think. though i really don't want to see something like that, i can't bring myself to get rid of them.

it's the terrible automobile accident phenomenon...... you know you probably won't like what you see, but for some reason you have to look.

i think i will pass on the link, but i can't rule out that at 3:30am some night curiosity won't get the better of me.

Ask yourself if you can really stomach watching some hate filled smucks actually kill someone.

Put yourself in the familys place. Now how would you feel? What if that were your dad? Your Uncle?

What kind of person could actually film it and release it?

After 20 years, 1 month and 8 days in the Marine Corps and seeing more than 1 of my fellow Marines wounded or worse, I wouldn't watch that worthless piece of garbage video for anything. I know it's hard not to let your curiosity get the best of you, but it's flat out morbid to watch this propaganda or any other kind of "Snuff" material. It will be common place soon enough so let's not rush it in. Be strong fellow SG'ers.

I think watching it can be good for one reason only...to remind people of what is happening is not a damn joke. This is real life. Reality.

People need to be more aware of their environment. Some say that Daniel Perl was naive and too trusting. I think there is some credence to that thought.

I also know that he did not die in vain for the simple fact that it has taught the rest of us to not be as trusting of everyone. I think that this was a wake up call for the media as well...they need to stop putting their own people in harms way

The world aint a safe place...it never has been. sometimes bad things happen to good people to remind us of those dangers.

I don't need to watch that video...I'm acutely aware of what is going on with terrorism.

i think that is a more accurate "dissertation" of my thoughts. i will pass on the link, since it really doesn't offer anything special other than a graphic murder, which is not at all special if you think about it. if some nut tried to slap a purpose on a killing, then i think the purpose should be examined independantly of the death involved. and i think the whole "purpose" of terrorism has been examined and talked about to the point where the Pearl murder is nothing more than that........ a murder.
