Spam!

Post by TBob »

Hey Guys,

reciently i have been getting & deleting about 250 spam emails a day from my outlook. It is not a hotmail account, and i never sign up for things online or give out my e-mail address to anyone but friends. I contacted Telus, my ISP and they have no spam filters. Would you guys know of any programs that work with outlook 2k (XP) to stop & block spam e-mails ?

Thanks!

are the emails repeatitive? do they all have something in common?

if they are the same ones over and over, you can set up some message rules blocking that address or address block ex: all @ hotmail.com

or if they all have "free sex!" in their subject you can make a message rule that auto deletes all emails that have "free sex!" in the subject

i do this with this one porno site somebody signed me up for... havent heard from them since :D

I'm really good at not giving out my true email. I made on excpetion with SBC (wanted to win some Spurs tickets) and now I get at least 5 items a day from some lil company.

I wanna know how it reads it.
They are addressed like: RONALD YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS! or RONALD, YOU've won!

I never type my email name. ever.

I use to get tons of spam mail.

But sometimes, at the very bottom of the e-mail in tiny, probably the same color as the background text they will give you a link you can go to to take your e-mail off the list.

Thats what i did and now i get maybe 2-3 spam e-mails a week.

yah... actually sometimes the e-mails are sent out randomly, and that little link at the bottom just verifies that you are actually there heh ... but there is the feature that blocks emails with certain text in the subject ?

Just set up mail rules to delete all messages that aren't from one of your contacts. That's what I do. I use a hotmail email account for everything else like registering at sites, purchase confirmations and stuff.
Respect it.

I think this is a symptom of the W32.Klez Virus...Research it yourself...It invades your email, Outlook, Outlook Express, and sends the virus to everyone on the list, because of the way it works, it could accidently sign you up for some of that junk, I have been getting alot myself also.
