I dont know about the Monaro - but its "hotted up" cousin (the HSV Coupe) does the 400m (quarter mile) in 13.3 seconds and 0-100Km/hour (0-60mph) in 5.1 seconds.
The Ultimate HSV - 300kW of Callaway-enhanced 5.7 litre V8, 510Nm of torque, a close-ratio 6-speed manual only gearbox with shift light and buzzer - in a word awesome. Exclusive HSV 6-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers, Grooved and Cross-Drilled 362mm front and 343mm rear discs, developed in conjunction with AP Racing (of HRT fame) - unmatched stopping power.

Nice car.
Rumour is...GM is toying around with their cars for the U.S, so we might see something similar to what you aussies have.
Btw the stock exhaust on LS1s really sucks, IMO.
Throw on some flowmasters on her, to open her up.

That is a nice looking car. I'd probably kill myself trying to learn how to shift with my left hand though.
Now here comes the stupid question, are the pedals reversed too?
Here in the US it's clutch, brake, gas from left to right.
