Cheap broadband? help

Post by baaljack »

Can someone help me. I pay 40 bucks a month for my cable modem. I cannot afford this anymore. Is there anything I can buy that is cheaper??? at least 10 bucks cheaper. I dont want regular dial up because I dont want to tie up the phone line when i get on the internet. Can someone at least just post some random websites or somewhere where i can compare prices?

thanks

dslreports.com is good..for that i think.

you may consider buying your cable modem.. usually isps charge 5-10 / month for the rent.. this'll let u keep more each month..also ask if they have some sort of 'lite' plan..that'll give u slightly slower speeds for half the cost.

In the grand scheme of thing is $120.00 all that much? Lowering your broadband to $10.00 less would give you this much of a savings...broadband is so worth that extra $10.00. Seeing that most major ISP's are now changing $23.00 another $17.00 for more than twice the speed (sometimes it's actually 50x the speed of a dial-up account). It's so worth it in productivity value alone. So skip pack of cigaretts or the morning latte and you should be able to afford the extra $10.00/month...

Just trying to put it in perspecitve for you...

Baaljack:

The way I solved the problem of having the phone line tied up was to have a second phone line installed. The extra cost was about $18.00 a month. Once I switched to cable, I dropped the extra phone line. Cable service in my area runs about $50.00 a month.
