If your MTU is 1480 try<

Select connection type at top, select adapter, select custom settings, enter 1 at a time 31680 or 63360, uncheck scaling under Tcp1323Opts, apply changes and REBOOT each time you change number in Optimizer if number Optimizer puts in does not work for you.

Speed test here, test will open another browser, close one
directions on how to do speed test in help thread in signature: Select site nearest you:

If from overseas try nearest site from here: http://www.testmyspeed.com/internationalspeedtests.htm

You can't that is the proper PPPoE MTU for XP, just make your RWIN a multiple of 1440 (your MSS). :)

TCP options string = 020405a00103030201010402

MTU = 1480
MTU is not fully optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for better throughput.

MSS = 1440
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1440, which is equal to MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 256960
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 2 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 64240
For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
506880 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
253440 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
126720 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
63360 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 10278.4 kbps (1284.8 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 4111.36 kbps (513.92 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 57 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

What does all of this mean?

Download the TCPOptimizer (in my sig) to your desktop and select DSLPPPoE and custom settings. Try RWINs of 31680 or 63360 (as Lobo suggested) uncheck Timestamps and Windows Scaling select save and reboot to take effect, also follow the instructions on how to set your NIC duplex mode properly (in My Tips in my sig). :)

Download the TCPOptimizer (in my sig) and select "DSLPPPoE", "custom settings" and "modify all adapters" then put in RWIN of 31680 and uncheck Windows scaling and Timestamps then "Apply Changes" and reboot to take effect. Once you have rebooted post your TCP Analyzer results again. Also make sure your NIC duplex mode is set properly according to my instructions in "My Tips". :) :D

Not too good if those are your caps, try the other RWIN suggested 63360 and see how that works. Also, are connected via NIC or USB? :)

Or try EvilAjax's PPPoE Tips in sig :D

Try 28800 first. If you see no difference then try 54720 and 115200. Make sure you reboot after applying each RWIN setting.

According to your profile Skyness you have AOL DSL? If so are you using version 7.0? If so you can't change your MTU so............ download the TCPOptimizer to your desktop and select the following things - DSL PPPoE - modify all network adapters - custom settings - try TCP Receive Window of 31284 or 62568 - uncheck both boxes in TCP 1323 Options - save to registry and reboot. Also make sure you have your NIC set to the proper duplex mode according to the instructions in "My Tips" and read and follow my advice in "My Tips". :) :D

Is this a PPPoE connection:

PPPoE you have to log on to the internet with username and password. (Not log on to Windows)
PPPoE ( Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet ) is a method for building PPP sessions and encapsulating packets, as described in RFC2516. Although it is not a standard, PPPoE is already being used by a number of DSL providers. It requires either routers that have built-in PPPoE support, or PPPoE software to "dial up" and establish the session. You have to log on with name and password everytime you access net with PPPoE.

Is AOL required to connect to Verizon? Where I live AOL offers DSL through Verizon, but AOL is required to connect. If AOL is not required - get rid of it, all it will do is slow you down and cause problems. Please reply if you need help optimizing your connection because the proper settings are effected by AOL. :)

Ok, then do another analyzer test just using IE not through AOL and post your results and also what are your caps through Verizon (I believe the most common package is 768/128). :)

Download the TCPOptimizer and try setting your MTU to 1492 (that is the proper size for connection type) then set your Tcp Receive Window to 31944 and uncheck both boxes in Tcp 1323 Options then save and reboot to take effect and post your analyzer results again. :)

Type REGEDIT in run box, go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\
System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\NetTrans\000n (Where "000n" is your TCP/IP protocol. It contains "TCP/IP" assigned to the "DriverDesc" value. "n" can be any number from 0 to 9)

Go thru all 000n folders and change 1462 to 1500 whenever you see it, Most important, REBOOT after you check all folders :)

If this is a PPPoE connection, MTU should be 1492 :)
