ok, i just put my computer together and at bios it wont detect my hard drive but it detects my cd-rw and dvd drives.

The dvd drive is on slave and the cd rw is on select which are connected to IDE channel 2.
The hard drive is on master which is connected to IDE channel 1.

specs:

Soltek 75DRV5
western digital 20gb

Depending on the HD you may not need any jumpers for it to be the master, some HD's when alone on an IDE cable do not require a jumper. :)

If your board has built in ata100 or raid then your not going to see the drive in bios. You will see the drive after bios flashes by and the controler drive detect comes up.

Try putting your HD on IDE #2 to verify that #1 isn't bad...

Also make sure in your BIOS that your IDE channel one is set to "auto" so that it will properly recognize the drive and (not trying to belittle you) but double check the IDE cable so that 1. make sure it is good and 2. you have it connected properly (red stripe closest to power) - sometimes it's the simplist things you overlook, I know I have. :) ;)
