Sound Blaster Extigy

Post by BoOmEr2120 »

I seem to be having a minor problem with my Sound Blaster Extigy. I plugged my front and rear speakers in the designated ports on the back of the unit. For some reason, sound only comes from the port designated for the front speakers, but the rear speakers are silent.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Go into your surround mixer and pick the 4 or 5 speaker setup. test it. if it doesn't work, then run the diagnostic program.

I ran the diagnostics, and every speaker worked. The issue now is that I only get sound through four speakers if I use the Creative PlayCenter. If I use Winamp, I only get sound through the front speakers.

OK, to get the 4 speaker sound using winamp you have to choose direct sound as your output and NOT the wave mapper...btw, is this a winxp system?

It's a Windows 2000 system.

I will try that in Winamp.

When I tried the direct sound as the output, I couldn't hear anything from either speakers.

Did U try Downloading DRIVER'z?? I have the SBAudigy installed on all three of my OS's on same comp with updated drivers for both of my cardz in fact. I did experience some minor probs on 98Se & WinXP OS's (rear speakers did not work). I run the Creative FPS1500 btw. All I did was re-install original driverz, then if that didn't work I installed the updated driverz. Everything works fine now on all of my OS's. Windows usually installs the right drivers automatically but sometimes you have to "manually" install the correct ones (I recommend doing this). If I am not mistaken you might have to install the WDM driverz for W2K, that's if you haven't already. Good Luck!!
