Looking for opinions on TDK cdrw drives

Do any of you guys/gals own any of the TDK burners? What are your opinions of them? I am interested in getting the 32x10x40x model, but wanted to find out more.

They have been dependable on my end over here. I cant say nething bad over them. I can burn a full cd a little under 5 mins, i have 24X model

I just got a 32/10/40 a week ago as a matter of fact,and I used it pretty heavily lastnight,and I like it just fine so far.and besides it looks cool. lol

I just now seen this thread, Cornbread. I sent you a pm before I seen this.

I've two TDK's running in my new setup. A 16X model and a 24X model. Both work like a champ. I had an 8X model for quite a while. I've probalby burned maybe 250 CDr's or rw's with it. Maybe more. It still works like a champ. As far as I'm concerned, the TDK burner is a top notch product.

TDK is not the best type of burner if your looking at newer forms of copy protection.

Could you explain this a little better? Do you mean it causes more errors?

Tuff choices indeed guys, all the drives mentioned here are the ones I am trying to choose from

I read somewhere that Lite-On supplies some of the parts or something for the TDK burner, but i'm not sure if its true or not?

BTW, my current burner is a HP 12x, and works great, but as most people..."I want FASTER".

Sure, the basic copy protection for audio, introduces errors that a normal cdplayer ignores but a cdrom or other device that can rip, will copy over, resulting in noise. The later protections, won't even let you play them on a cdrom or cdrw or dvd player.

The first type can be defeated by using EAC. I'm sure you already had that on in mind.

Other than that, if I remember right, it has to do with raw and subchannel data.

If terrancelam picks this up, he can expand more. He's the expert here.

I suggest you consider getting a Lite-on CD-RW. Best on that list for price and performance along side copy protection reading and writting. Plextors have been known to not be able to do copy protection reading, but normally might (varies on the firmware.)

been missing due to being sick, I took some anti-biotics from my local doctor to cure a throat infection and I didn't know I was allegeric to it untill I had a reaction the next morning. Basicly my entire upper lips was swollen lip crazy the other day. But just yesterday the swollen lip became a bit sore (Like an open wound in my mouth and is crazy sensitive, haven't been able to eat much because of it) and I've been insanely tired the last 4 days and today I just couldn't get out of bed even though I had 10 hours of sleep. Ahh sorry..

After my plextor 16x died I got the TDK 24x, I like it and haven't had any problems at all.

I decided to get the Lite-on 40x

cdrw, it should be here in a few days. I also saved 10 bucks compared to the TDK 32x model.
