Post by sentra8777 »

I dont see this with winxp or 2000. But with win me when u first get on the net IE takes a while to load up a webpage. Then when it doce u are good to go for a while. Then maby after a while the browser lags again. For some reason u cant change the max mtu with win me either. These are my results with win me

SpeedGuide.net TCP/IP Analyzer
TCP properties for IP = (h-64-105-106-80.sfldmidn.covad.net)
Note: Read the FAQ if the above is not your IP address.
Browser/OS = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows 98; Win 9x 4.90)

TCP options string = 0204058e

MTU = 1462
MTU is not fully optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for better throughput.

MSS = 1422
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1422, which is equal to MSS.
MSS is not fully optimized for broadband (although it might work well for slower connections). Consider increasing your MTU value.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 17064
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 17064
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
523296 (MSS x 46 * scale factor of 8)
261648 (MSS x 46 * scale factor of 4)
130824 (MSS x 46 * scale factor of 2)
65412 (MSS x 46)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 682.56 kbps (85.32 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 273.024 kbps (34.128 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
Consider increasing your RWIN value to optimize TCP/IP for broadband.

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 24 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = OFF

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

2124593 connections tested since 03.10.2001.
