Most routers havea web interface to do this, so I can only assume you are talking about a Netgear router.
1) Go to Start Menu -> Run -> type "telnet 192.168.0.1" -> click OK
2) Enter your password... (the default is 1234).
3) In the menu type "24" click Enter then "8" and click Enter
4) In the command line interface type "ip adjmss xxxx"
where xxxx is the MSS value" -> Click Enter
5) Type "Exit" -> Click Enter
6) Log in to your router, disconnect your connection then have your router reconnect.
