ok intel freaks tell me whats wrong
tell me why my tyan 230 rig wont install an os, all hardware works and is installed right but every installer crashes, tried linux(progency) windows ME and XP!

I'm having a similar problem with our second computer here. I just put that Soyo BX board I posted about in it last night and everytime I go to install windows it crashes with a vxd error at the initializing hardware/drivers phase, then the screen freezes and the top third of the screen is all scrambled looking.
It's running cas 3-3-3 right now, but I think it is because I have so much ram on the board. I am gonna try to remove 3 of the 4 sticks of PC133 and try again today.

try disabling ACPI when installing XP, when it asks you for a 3rd party SCSI or RAID driver, hold the F7 key until the screen advances.Originally posted by YARDofSTUF

If your browser can't read unicode, you should probably switch!

Oh, now I see... you're using parts from an AMD machine.... the intel processor won't work because if it did, there'd only be 2 degrees of separation between it and an AthlonOriginally posted by YARDofSTUF

a celeron should be happy to be anything other than a celeron, cyrix, or evergreen overdrive chip lol
