that system isn't that bad, dont worry, it just seems low end due to the people who have tiem/mney to by high end comps.. I had that prob with 98 before, it ended up being some kind of memory/resource link. GO to msconfig, and uncheck all un needed stuff

If it started right after you installed the new RAM then yes that could very well be the problem, try removing it and see. :)

Well I know it wouldn't be a popular solution for some people, but unless you're constantly using foreign floppies or downloading ahem, "questionable" files, or don't have the presence of mind to ignore e-mails with attachments from "Bootyliscous_2125@hotmail.com," I'd say turn off your antivirus program and don't have it load at startup. I noticed a big performance difference on my old PC (PII 350, 512 MB RAM) when I did.

Your problem is that your hard drive sleeps very offen , go to the windows power managment tab , and set the hard drive to never stops .

Your ram could be a problem if you are O/Ced .. Or if the ram sticks does not coperate OR if you have set your Cas latency high , one good idea for your mixed ram modules is to set in the Bios Cas latency 3-3-3 ..
